The Central Law Journal (art
that the old fable of the lawyers and
the oyster in which the ownership J
of an ovatrr being contested the law-
yers ate the oyster and gave a ahell
to each of the litigant is match-J
by a story of a lawsuit which a Hire

brella between them jhe judge post-
poned the case Pending ita decision
the umbrella woa left in the judge’
private room
Lafcr as he left the court to go
home the judge found that
weather was rainy lie went hack to 1
hia room took the umbrella which j
waa in litigation and spread it ore
his head in the street On his way
home lie went into a restaurant and
left the umbrella on the rack and
when we are ready to leave the place
he found that it had been taken away
by some unknown customer Then
he bought another tunbrella and took '
it to hia courtroom When the cat j
came up the litigants were confront-1
ed with it and neither was able to
identify it as his own The court
thereupon fined them both for invok- j
the !
ing the law on a frivolous pretext ’
and they departed empty handed and
decidedly “nonsuited’
