The Election Last Tuesday
and
Franchise Carried
Sublett Elected
An election was held in Mannsville
last Tuesday to determine whether
the people were in favor of granting
a franchise for twenty-five years to
the Electric Light and Power Compa-
ny and to decide whom the people de-
sired appointed City Marshal
There was a good deal of election-
eering on the (ftreets and considera-
ble interest warfvdeveloped during the
day in spite of ue icy norther that
swept the city wfthout intermission
The vote was close there being only
twelve votes different as to City Mar-
shal and only three vtes cast against
the franchise and some think this was
a mistake in making out the tickets
as it was thought the opinion was
unAoimou in favor of granting the
frauchise v 'i S-V j-J
One hundred and twenty -votes were
polled as follows:
For granting the franchise 117
Against granting the franchise 3
For H W Sublett for Marshal 60
