A majority of the largest tax-
payers reside north of the old Day
county line and in that part of
Ellis county where the vote was
strongest against the court house
and jail bonds
Plank' editor of the ArnettLeade
says that Ellis county (or rather
Arnett) is going to hand you a
nice jucy lemon in tne fall of 1910
Oh My side! Won’t that be
awful? '
of the little city of Arnett! Try-
ing to hand the voters north of
Wolf creek a bunch are you?

how ? Oh any old way just so
we get the court house and jail at
Arnett
The little city of Arnett is a very There is a road and bridge fund
progressive little city in fact is created by 1 1-4 mill levy and this
too prone to grogressiveness she j fund is to lie used to build bridges
wants to build a $65000 court and improve the roads where it is
house and jail It would mate
our Square look so much better
and we want Mr Taxpayer to go
down in his pocket and dig up to
pay for it
Yes Sir! Mr Voter if you
don’t believe in building a court
house and jail in Arnett right
away quick Why Mr He He
needed bridges have been built in
a good many different places in
Ellis county Who helped to build
these bridges? It most certainly
comes from the taxpayers Which
class of taxpayers pay the most
money into this fund? We
answer the largest taxpayer
Where do these kind of taxpayers
live? Generally speaking north

Arnett certainly do love you! It
just breaks their hearts to think
that they cannot convince you that
it is to your interests to burden
ourselves with taxes in order that
they may beautify the little city
of Arnett wilh a $15000 court
house and jail for $35000
We have it pretty straight that
one of our county officers who is
paid by the taxpayers of the coun
ty to do the county business for
them and be also has a clerk paid
by the taxpayers He leaves the
clerk in the office to do the busi
ness while be has been grading
arouid over some parts of the
county to fix up a little political
machinery that be can ' run bim-
self Better look a little out

Do we believe in progressiveness?
We certainly do! In fact we
have always believed in that very
thing but you see it is just this
way with us we believe in a man
or a party of men keeping their
word After having once made a
promise we believe in keeping tnat
promise inviolate and the Arnett
boosters promised the voters in
the county seat election that if the
county seat was given to them
they would not ask for a court
house and jail for five years Just
think of it five iong years! It did
not seem long to WAit then but
now well you see times' have
changed and we need that court
house and jail in the city of Arnett
right away it might have a tend-
ency to bring a railroad
