To the Mannsville News: On
what grounds do you claim that
Ravia is SCHEMINS to get the
county seat removed from Tisho-
mingo? By whose authority do
you intimate or assert that if the
county seat should remain at
Tishomingo the tax payers of
Johnston County would mit be
taxed for the building of a court
house? Have YOU read the Con-
stitution VERY carefully? It is
probably true that they would
not be taxed to build a NEW
court house but they would have
the present building UNLOADED
ON THEM AT A FANCY PRICE to
say nothing about paying for
every cent's worth of improve-
ments that have been put on the
building People in this diy and
time are not giving away houses

be proven true
National Banks
National Banks'
are the safest place to bank be-
cause they are organized under
United States laws and are also
under tHe most rigid Govern-
ment supervision
To the Mannsville News: Be
careful how you talk about
schemers you might get on "Al-
fala Bill's" toes The map of
Oklahcma shows that some of
the most damnable scheming and
grafting ever perpetrated upon
a free people was done in the
Constitutional Convention when
the county boundaries were made
and the temporary county seats
located Had you thought of
that? Had the further thought
entered your head that without
almost a single exception each
delegate had his home town
made the temporary county seat?
Schemers! Ye Gods and little
fishes! Just look at the map of
Oklahoma and then be good
The bill introduced in Congress
some weeks since by Congress-
man Carter to remove the re-
strictions from the Indian lands
passulthe Lower House of Con-
gress Wednesday without a dis-
senting vote It now goes to the
Senate and will undoubtedly pass
that body in the next few days
and become a law It means
much progress and prosperity
to the eastern end of the State
The bill removes the restrictions
from the lands of mixed breeds
intermarried citizens and negroes
who have allotments The bill
has this clause in it that protects
the allottees from the grafters:
"That these lands shall not be
subjected or held liable to any
form of personal claim or demand
against the allottees arising or
existing prior to the passage of
this act" This act as soon as
it becomes a law places 9000000
or more acres of land on the tax
rolls of the State

A Narrow Escape from Death
During the thunder storm
Monday evening the family of
W H Fairchilds who lives in
West Ravia narrowly escaped
death The house was struck in
two places and damaged in three
One bolt struck the rock chim-
ney knocking off part of the top
of the chimney and scattering
the rocks around generally some
of them being thrown into the
garden and one to the middle of
the street This bolt passed
down the chimney until where
the house and chimney came to-
gether and then it seemed to
have passed down the wall of the
house tearing the paper off the
wall over the mantel and knock-
ing off the wooden - jam of the
fire-place Mr Fairchilds was
setting with his chair against the
window casing and the fire jam
and was knocked unconscious as
was also Mrs Fairchilds and
Mrs Craig who were in the
room Mr Fairchilds escape is
marvelous as the jam was torn
loose that his chair was against
The other bolt struck the roof of
the house one prong of it seem-
ed to have passed across the roof
of the house on the tin valley
and down the wall on the west
side of the dining room while
the other prong passed down the
east wall of the same room both
walls being damaged and the
planks struck splintered The
safe on the west side of the din-
ing room was also struck and
damaged This room is quite
small and Mr Fairchilds' son had
just entered the room and was

standing at the dining table when

a narrow escape yet he was less
shocked than those in the other
room The damage to the build-
ing was not much not over $25
or $30
About the same time the frame
store building of Andrew Nanny
just west of the Fairehilds about
a block was struck but no seri-
ous damage done beyond a hole
in the roof and ceiling
