We hare Imt few knocker in

propa Ration of these animai It
i a good country everybody who
ha any enterprise and is willing
to work and umh just common
ordinary horse sense i prosjier-
ou and even the kiuxk-r is
pretty well silenced Sometime
he corner some stranger ia the
town who has time to listen to
him and then the natural born
knocker enjoys himself for a time
telling the visitor that he don't
like the town that there are no
houses to rent that rents are too
high that this is so dull a place
the wind blows it gets so dusty
when it doesn’t rain for four or
live years that there s a man in
this town who has treated him
very badly and carries such a
a general atmosphere of gloomi-
ness and discouragement that the
said stranger either becomes dis
gusted with a town that will per-
mit such a wart to stay or himself
becomes imbued with the idea
that it won’t ever amount to any
1 this glorious commonwealth
thing and he will tell every one '
with whom he comes in contact The (uardian ast week was
that the town is not anv £ood i roasting knockers and the worst
and he in turn becomes a knocker j bnockers - town are of his
on the town when if he had 'en ' cWst frien(is This week a
properly informed in reff-'r' representative of a magazine was
the true conditions he would aave in this town gathering material
had a good word lor the town for a maffazine artic1e ami the
which would have a tendency t°on knockcr lhat he encountered

tearing it down If you can t whkh the Guardian is a great
sav anything good for the
town don’t say anything but try
ind curb your foolish tongue and
uit trying to tear down and as-
-ist in building up by showing all
Grangers the advantages of the
town and don’t knock because
is a matter of fact you have
tothing to knock against
The re-election of Bird Mc-
uire almost assures the early
lassage of a statehood measure
If you bavn't paid up your sub-
cription for the Waurika News
re would be pleased to have you

The people of Apache town-
hip are getting disgusted with
he laxity of moral conditions
rbich have been existing in
ome high places in this county
Waurika at the present time
resent the best opportunities
or investment of any town in
ioutl west Oklahoma Now has
wo railroads with two more to
e built in the near future
Ther is a strong sentiment
n the Indian Territory in favor
if having the Territory admitted
is a prohibition state and we
elieve the people of Oklahoma
fit were left to a vote would
ote in favor of having this
nade a prohibition state
The people of Oklahoma are

The editor of the Waurika
Guardian is making a great howl
aliout cases being taken to Law-
ton for hearing Why this kick?
We know of one case that was
started before a justice here some
two months ago and up to the
present time has failed to come
to hearing and the editor of the
Waurika (iuardian was attorney
for the prosecution and receive
his fee in advance too
Prosperity is everywhere ap-
parent in and around Waurika
(food substantial improvements
are being made on every hand
new farm houses and new barns
are being built and every
farmer has money to buy and
pay for what be needs and most
of them have money in the bank
If you hear anyone singing the
praises of Oklahoma you can
safely believe whatever they
say because it would indeed be
a fertile imagination that
can overdraw the advantages of
friend Now brother if you can
stop your friends from this sense-
less habit of berating the town to
strangers you will at least have
accomplished some good
While there are factional dif-fen-mes
existing n the town we
are all equally interested in its
development and should all work
for the betterment of conditions
and none should be so narrow and
vindictive as to knock simply be-
cause he doesn’t like someone else
who is interested here Let all
work for the development of the
town We have conditions that
will make a town in spite of any
knocks but earnest united ef-
forts by the people already here
will greatly assist in hastening
the development which is sure to
come
Several land sales have been
made in this community in the
last few days at a fair price
whicli will have a tendency to
cause land owners to advance
the price of their land which
will cause buyers to go to other
localities But we don’t much
blame the farmers in Oklahoma
for valuing their land high
many farmers have sold more
dollars worth of produce off
of tbeir farms this year than
they could have sold the land
for twelve months ago No
country on earth pre-ents a bet-
ter opportunity for the home-
seeker than does southwestern
Oklahoma
Never before in the history of
American politics has that class
of oliticians known as the “brass
collar” “rule or ruin” or “jailer
dog” variety received such a
sweeping rebuke as was adminis-
tered by the people at last Tues-
day’s election Not only did the
cyclone of retribution reach the
high places in national politics
but swept on down through the
states and counties and even the
smallest precincts where the suf
frage of the common people wert
called upon lo run'm' the pref-
ogatiie of a tree and untramrlrd

Our cotton buyer are paying
top price for cotton Our gin
man J S Lang wa a Itwlon
visitor iat week and while
tlteie naturally investigated the
condition existing there and he
reort that the buyer here
were paying from 2"c to 40c
more lor the staple than they
were there The buyer here
have ln-en going steadily along
paying all that the market
would justify have all paid the
same price quality considered
and have not bid up to outside
parties at the expense of the
home man but have paid all
what their cotton was worth
and the gin men have been cour-
teous to all and no one lias had
any exuse for complaint and
the consequences are that this
is one of the most favorite mar-
kets with the planters Fair

continue to be the motto of our

Th Nsw Movsmanl
There is a class among the hu-
man race who are always in
every clime or corner of the
earth working hard to make this
world better they wish to raise
the standard of their people to a
higher plane of civilization and
to do real good to all to make
happy homes to lighten every
burden of the oppressed and
drive out every particle of un-
happiness leaving the human
race a great happy and pros-
perous people They have
many enemies to fight and it is
a great battle they are fighting
fo- Godliness righteousness and
morality and they are winning
fast among right-thinking peo-
ple— and will always win
among true thinkers — and yet
the small number of the class
for righteousness in the Indian
territory against the great
monsters or “devil’s agents” —
liquor dealers All men of hon-
esty righteousness and wisdom
will join in the work and are
frank to confess that the per-
petuation of the present condi-
tions of the territory will great-
ly advance the civilization
Christianization and education
of this now happy country and
will endorse the very appropri-
ate and wise movement of the
Temperance Society organized!
in South McAlister a few months
back
The Orphan’s Home Journal
herein fully and heartily with-
out hesitating one moment en-
dorses every step taken by the
people of the Indian territory
in the direction of soberness and
righteousness against the devil-
isbness and hellish damnable
thievish murdering blood-
thirsty saloon devils We hope
every organiution for righteous-
nrs aud every minister of the
gospel and I am quite certain
every friend to God and hi
great cause will unlimitedly and
heartily endorse the very wor-
thy movemrnt against the
great vicious life destroying
monster the licensed saloon (the
wholesale house In the eternal
damnation of souls)
Any man or woman who
would willingly vote to bring
the saloon man to the Indian
territory ia worse than a horse-
thief and bad better be dead
and in hell receiving tbeir much
deserved reward which they are
certain to one day gain The
fellow who would vote whisky
into the territory hat not aa
much manhood about him as a
fresh batched baby cblgger has
gray matter on it brain Act

right direction— Cornish Reasoned
