Outgoing President's Plessage
1957 was a banner year for Stillwater and Oklahoma State Uni-
versity. A year of changes. Changes good for Stillwater—good
for our University. Our chamber played a definite, if not domi-
nant role, in good, progressive steps our community took during
the year. Several larger projects begun are not yet completed.
However, many good projects were completed and I have confidence
that longer range programs will be successfully completed in the
near future.
The character of every community is shaped by people who
do things! As they spend the days, month’s and years necessary
to build reputations of useful citizenship that will live proudly long
after they have traveled through the era, they link arms, join pur-
poses and travel forward toward shared objectives. By men's
works are cities known.
Chamber members can review the work of their organization
during 1957, as presented in this Annual Report, with considerable
pride and satisfaction. Steady progress in nearly every phase of
civic and economic development has been experienced during the
year. It has been a pleasure to have served as your chamber presi-
dent, and to have worked so closely with the many members who
have given so generously of their time and abilities to the interests
of our community improvement program.
Stillwater faces a new era of dramatic growth and develop-
ment. The years ehead will be decisive ones. If we are to meet
the challenges of the future, we must unite all interests of every
segment of the city into one program for building a better Still-
water to better serve all its citizens.
I wish to give full appreciation to you, the members, to our
Board of Directors, the staff, and our various committee chairmen
for your excellent cooperation and good work during the year. I
know the new president has earned your confidence and support,
and that he can expect your full cooperation.
Today your Chamber of Commerce is larger, stronger, and
better equipped than ever before in history. Continued active
support of and cooperation with your Chamber of Commerce will
undoubtedly pay bigger dividends for you in the future in the
form of general economic and social development of your city.
Your Chamber of Commerce looks with confidence toward the
Stillwater of tomorrow.
PRESIDENT 1ST VICE PRESIDENT 2ND VICE PRESIDENT
V. O. Wilson, Jr. Muri Rogers Cleo Harris
