, What's the matter with Okla-
homa? She's all right!
!
Oklahoma is now threshing
the best wheat she ever raised—
and pne of the best crops she ever
h arvested.
. "Lawton'' will be one of the
five large cities of Oklahoma and
perpetuate the name of one of
America's bravest soldiers. It is
the name selected for the new
county-seat at Fort Sill.
, Every merchant who adver-
tises in the Transcript enjoys a
good trade. Everyone who does
not adyertise is—welly, not doing
so well. The Transcript
reaches the buying portion of
the community.
. The dude democracy met in Ok
lahoma City, Tuesday. No one
without th? price C$19) was in-
vited. It took that much to get
within the sacred precincts of
the inner circles. Upon what
njeat have these Caesars feasted
(hat they have become so great!
' Judge Thomas, of the Indian
Territory, will be superceded on
July 1st by Judge Raymond, of
Illinois. It was believed that
Mr. Thomas^ would succeed him-
self, as he has\nade an enviable
record: but "th$ race is not al-
ways to the swiit, nor the battle
to the strong."
Oklahoma's assessed valuation
this year will reach $60,000,000
which means double that amount
if real value was put upon it.
Claims are being proved up upon
rapidly and another year will see
the valuation reaching near the
cue. hundred million mark
Watch it grow!
In the appointment of a terri
torial treasurer there is only one
man Gov. Jenkins should consid-
er and only one man that he
probably will consider, and that
is Mr. Jos. W. McNeal. In ever\
way he is capable, in every way
worthy, and from a political
standpoint especially deserving
and desirable—Is, in Jact, the
logical matf for the position-
E. E B*own, of the Oklahoma
Times-Journal, has been appoint-
ed oil inspector by Gov Jenkins
Iyo more worthy or capable man
could have been selected. He de-
seves it, for his earnest and
through work for the party anu
for Oklahoma. It is probable
Mr. Ed Korns, of the Republican-
N«ws, of Newkirk; D. F. Smith,
of Kingfisher, and Delbtrt Jen-
kins?, son of the governor, will be
his deputies, and "that the fees
will be divided among the four—

President McKinley can al-
ways be relied upon to say the
right thing and do the right
thing at the right time- With
his usual good sense he has put
a quietus upon the third-term
idea sprung by his over-zealous
friends, by declaring that under
no circumstances nor conditions
would he be a candidate or ac-
cept a nomination for a third
term. He closes his statement
by saying: "My only desire is
to serve my second term accept-
ably to my countrymen, whose
generous confidence I so deeply
appreciate, and then with them
to do my duty in the rauks of
private citizenship." There will
be no third ttrm agitation for
President McKinley with his con-
sent.
There will be 684,000,000 bus.
of wheat in the crop of 1901, ac-
cording to the figures of the sta-
tistician of the New York Pro-
duce Exchange, based upon the
acreage and the condition as set
forth by the department of ag-
riculture. This, of course, will
break all the records, if it comes.
The largest wheat crop ever har-
vested thus far was that of 1898,
which was 675,000,000 bashels,
and none has come near that pre-
viously since 1891, when the yield
was 613,000,000 bushels. The
684,000,000 crop of 1901 would
please the country exceedingly.
Europe's yield is apparently go-
ing is be considerably short of
the earlier expectations, and it
looks as if there will be a market
on the other side of the Atlantic
for all the wheat the United
States will have to spare. The
larger the crop here the better it
will be for the country.
The $l0-democratic-club fel-
lows held a convention in Okla
homa City on Tuesday. It was
attended by nearly 100 prominent
members of the party in Oklaho
ma, each of whom had enjoyed a
sufficient quantity of McKinley
prosperity to be able to put up
the necessary X. There were
few horny-handed farmers among
them; that class is not worrying

the physiciau could not arouse him.
T&it is only one case in several casea
of baby drunkards recently noted. The
important fact is that alcoholic^ stimu-
lants quickly develop the alcoholic liabit
in children. This fact is just as true
wlien the alcohol is disguised ns a medi-
cine, a " sarsaparilla" or other "coni-
pound." So many medicines contain
alcohol, to the same extent that it is con-
tained in beer or whisky, that parenta
should l>e cautious what medicines they
give their children.
There is absolutely no alcohol, whisky
or Lntoxieabtiu anv form in Di. Pierce's
Golden Medical Discovery, neither does
it contain opium or any other narcotic.
It is a blood-making and body-building
medicine. It does not make flabby flesh
but good, firm flesh and muscle. It is
pleasant to the taste.

crops and conditions most excel-

The Missouri report, on the oth-

eastern Kansas is also in bad
