The Methodist Ladies cleared
over thirty dollars from their
Bazar and Christmas pie supper

If some of our enterprising
citizens would fit up a building
in the town for an opera house,
they would not only do the town
a service but would doubtless
make good interest on their in-
vestment as well.
Farmers tell us that the wheat
is looking better now than it did
two weeks ago and that it is get-
ting greener every day. The on-
ly way they can account for this
is that the recent freezes have
brought the sub surface moisture
up to the roots of the grain. It
is also reported that the water is
standing in the creeks, where a
month ago the bed was dry and
cracked, and this despite the tact
that there has been no rain since
last July.

to the failure of the crop over this

POND CREEK.
From the Vidette.
It was all night until morning
with the local Woodman lodge last
Tuesday night. The order had e-
leven new members to initate and
they made an all night's job of it.
There were about twenty members
of the Medford lodge present as
guests of the Pond Creek lodge
and they assisted in the work. A
lunch was served about midnight,
and after the refreshments the
work was resumed. Those of the
Medford lodge who came down on
the train, left the lodge room just
time to catch the train which leaves
here at 6:40 a. m.
John Piersou, from out west of
Pond Creek, returned home Tues-
day morning from a two weeks'
visit in Indiana. He visited old
schoolmates and a brother and a
sister in Crawford, Washington
and Harrison counties. He says he
had a good time though it had been
over thirty years since he had seeu
any of the people he visited and
had to get acquainted anew with
them. He also says that since
visiting Indiana, after living in
the West for thirty-three years, he
has no desire to return there to
live—he is pretty well satisfied
with his present surroundings,
thank you.
