Have you bought your ten cent
bale of cotton yet? -
In trying to sh some strang-
ers the town the other day a re-
sident of Marlow had to explain
that the weeds grow so fast in
Marlow that the people just
couldn’t keep them down
When we all reach that point
when we shall have civic pride
we will make desperate efforts
to keep our streets free from
weeds -
These rains still keep up the
good conditions that will start
off A good crop of wheat ' '
It is not too late to sow alfalfa
yet You can get home grown
seed and with well prepared soil
and plenty of moisture there
should be no trouble to get a
stand " " ’
The Progressive party candi-
dates and the Republican candi-
dates both spoke on the streets
of Marlow last Sunday If one
of them can nearly beat the
democrats both ought to be able
to do it You see they work so
harmoniously— apart
The Socialists have all taken a
rest The only one who has
made any noise lately is Socialists
Ollie His noise has been pub-
lished in his book which he is
selling to meet the expenses in
his last democratic campaign
Comrade Ollie looks natural
among the brethern
The people have been putting
in some good work on the roads
in some of the worst places
There is still lots of room for
improvement and the good work
should go on whenever help is
available
Hold your cotton as long as
you can and then turn it : loose
We believe that is what you will
do and we do not want to advice

HE BOUGHT J SAW-
Down in Oklahoma some time
ago a man went into a store to
buy a saw He saw He saw
the kind he wanted and asked
the price' It was $165 the ‘
dealer said
“Good gracious ” said the man
“I can get the same thing from
S R & Co for $135”
“That’s less than it cost me”
skid the dealer but 1 11 sell it
on the same terms as the mail-
order house just the same”
“All right ’’said the customer
“You can send it along and
charge it to my account”
“Not on your life” the dealer
replied “No charge accounts
You can’t do business with the
mail-order house that way Fork
over the cash”
The customer complied
“Now two cents postage and
five cents for a money-order”
“What-”
“Now two cents postage and
five cents for a" money order to
a mail-order house you know”
The customer inwardly raving
kept to his' agreement and paid
the seven cents
“Now twenty-five cents ex-
pressage” “Weil I’ll be he said
but paid it saying “Now hand
me that saw and I’ll take it home
myself and be rid of this foolry”
“Hand it to you? Where do
you think you are? You’re in
Oklahoma and I’m in Chicago
and you’ll have to wait two weeks
Delay Has Been Dangerous

In time of kidney danger
DOan’s Kidney Pills' are most
effective
Plepty of Marlow evidence of
their worth
Mrs Julia P Hendersou Mar-
low says: “My little girl had
weak kidneys fora long time
The kidney secretions passed
too frequently particularly dur-
ing the night ’Doan’s Kidney
Pills were procured at Siever’s
Drug Store and they brought
good results from the first A
cure soon followed’’
Price 50c at all dealers Don’t
simply ask for a kidney remedy
get Doan’s Kidney Pills — the
same that Mrs Henderson had
Foster-Milburn Co Prous
Buffalo N Y
for that saw”
Whereupon the dealer hung
the saw on a peg and put the
money in his cash drawer
“That makes $167” he said
“It has cost-you two cents more
and taken you two weeks longer
to get it than if you had paid
my price in the first place”
HOW Will TEXAS HEN?
“The time has come when the
question of votes for women
must be considered by the wo-
men of the South including
Texas There are-organizations
being formed for the purpose
of conducting a campaign of edu-
cation with the object of obtain-
ing equal suffrage without resort
to militant methods - 'Half the
battle is fought and won by the
people of the States that ' have
already granted equal suffrage’
That move has practically remov-
ed the contest from debatable
ground for if it is right for the
women to vote in California it is
right for them to vote iri Texas
To bring this proposition more
clearly before the public we quote
the following letter from El
Centro talifomia:
‘Temple Telegram
Temple Texas
Gentlemen:— It would interest
the readers of your paper to
know that Mrs Bird E 'Hobdy
has been appointed secretary of
the Jefferson Democratic Club
of Imperial' Co California as
Mrs Hobdy was formerly Miss
Bird Estes of Belton Texas
Since women gained the vote in
this State they are doing a great
work along lines of securing
shorter hours and better pay for
the working girls and minors
and it is our aim to place them
in high political positions at a
future date
Yours truly
Jefferson Club’
Thus it is seen that a girl who
formerly lived in Belton during
her childhood and young woman-
hood had distanced her sister
by the simple process of going
to California where women may
vote and even hold office That
is unfair to the sister who lives
in Texas at Killeen who is pre-
vented from voting by the Texas
law What do you think of it?”
