The Randlett Enterprise a
newsy paper published by W L
Swisher at Randlett expects to
make its first appearance before
the reading world this week Mr
Swisher has been busy for the
past two weeks getting ready to
begin business and hopes to issue
the first paper tomorrow Too
much cannot be said of the fu-
ture prospects of the Enterprise
as Mr Swisher is a man who will
make it a newspaper success He
is a former editor of the Tribune
and was with it when the town
was young and circumstances
were trying He is a town builder
a business promoter and a first-
class newspaper man and we can
concientiously and truthfully say
its up to the business men of
Randlett to make the Enterprise
one of the best papers in the
county No town can be a town
of any importance without a good
live paper and no paper can be
a live one without the liberal sup-
port of the business men of its
home town We know the En-
terprise will do its part and be-
lieve the citizens of Randlett will
tender their support thereby
working in harmony for the bet-
terment of their thriving town
Success to both is our best
fishes
Year Strictly in Advance
23 1907
Reports are reaching this office
from the various rural districts
of the chintz bug doing geeat
damage to the late corn It is to
be hoped however the injury
will not be serious
Fishing seems to be the lead-
ing sport of the day and fruitful
catches are reported (The above
does not apply to candidates)
Col R A Sneed
Our old friend Col R A
Sneed candidate for the-office
of Register of Deeds dropped in
the office last Thursday and
seems to be confident of his vic-
tory in his race for office The
following is a clipping taken
from his old home paper the
Jackson (Tenn) Wig:
"We note from a Lawton (Okla-
homa) paper that our former fel-
fow townsman and friend Col
R A Sneed is a candidate for
the democratic nomination for
Register of Deeds of Comanche
county Oklahoma A host of
friends in Madison county are
wishing him success There
never lived in this county a more
genial and gallant gentleman than
“Dick” Sneed He is one of those
rare souls who is loved by all for
his cherry disposition and kind
heart He is a citizen of whom
any community could boast true
to every trust staunch to his
friends and responsive to the ap-
peals humanity
For many years he was clerk
of the Common and Chancery
Court of Madison county and as
such clerk made a most excel-
lent record His successors in
office have since his occupancy
used his entries and judgements
as forms to follow The writer
had an occasion not long since to
refer to the old minutes of the
court kept by Col Sneed and
they are indeed models of neat-
ness and accuracy As said by
the Lawton paper “His compe-
ency to fill the office is beyond
question and his Democracy is of
the kind that does not boast”
When it comes however to fight-
ing for Democracy “Dick” Sneed
indeed is one of the “boys in the
trenches”
From what we know of Col
Sneed we wish him much suc-
cess and we feel that a large ma-
jority of the Democrats of Madi-
son county join in that wish We
await the decision of the Western
Democracy with great interest”
Married
The following article was clip-
ped from a Colorado Springs
paper
Miss Hattie M Bailey and
Louis Rumville both of Temple
Okla were married by Justice of
the Peace G M Gillett of South
Canon in the presence of a few
friends at 9 o’clock last Sunday
morning The bride has been
visiting here several weeks as
the guest of her aunt Mrs
Fred Willets The happy couple
will leave in a few days for Salina
Kan where they will make their
lome
The marriage occurred April
28 and both the young people are
well known here and have the
best wishes of the people of Tem-
ple together with that of the
Tribune
The alleys and balls are the
best that can be procured in the
market Tryjthepi
The Turf
Married B’gosh
When Ron King left this town
some two weeks ago for Seymour
Texas he never made any bones
as to what the object of his mis-
sion was and everybody knew
Ben was going to add “edict” to
his given name Ben is one of
the most popular young men in
this town and his host of friends
rejoice in his good fortune The
bride was formerly Miss Pearl
Francis the only daughter of J
W Francis a prominent real es-
tate man of Seymour and former
sheriff of that county
The young couple were united
in the holy bonds of matrimony
at the Christian church in the
presence of a host of friends at
11 o'clock May 15th and left for
Wichita Falls immediately after
and from there to Mineral Wells
Texas where they spent a few
days with Mr and Mrs Leo Cur-
tis They were escorted to the
depot from the churh by their
many friends amid showers of
rice and old shoes and at every
turn in the road they were greet-
ed in the same manner
Mrs King has lived for many
years in that locality and is num-
bered among the elite She is
a cultured young lady and just
the type of womanhood to make
a life-long helpmate Twenty or
more telegrams of congratula-
tions were sent them from this
place and many of them were
amusing such as “Congratula-
tions to Ben sympathy to Pearl”
“r-em-o-rs-e” “May the King
and Queen be increased to a full
house’ etc etc
Mr and Mrs King will take up
their residence on West Texas
street this week and will begin
living like old folks They have
the best wishes of the community
at large and especially that of the
Tribune and may they in this
toboggan of life slide down the
eternal hill of happiness undis-
turbed by the rocks of misfor-
tunes and just enough clouds to
appreciate the sunshine

Hon J F Thomas
Lawton Okla
Dear Thomas: I see a letter in
the press recently from Senator
Culberson endorsing Hon J- T
Thomas' for District Judge in
your District At the risk of be-
ing called a “butterin’’ I want to
second the Senator’s motion I
have a great many friends in
your country from this part of
Texas and prompted by a desire
to see them vote right and have
a man on the bench who is in
every way eminently qualified to
fill the place I take this method
of saying to them through you
that no better man can be found
for the office I have known
Judge Johnson for years as a
lawyer and as a private citizen
and I heartily endorse him for
the position he seeks
Yours very truly
