To the Voters of Choctaw

I am a candidate for the office
of State Senator from the dis-

mataha and McCurtain Counties
subject to the action of theDem-
ocratic voters in the -primaries
on August the 9tlu and -at the

have neither the time money
nor inclination to make an act-
ive campaign covering a perid of
six months I had not expected
to make any public statement
in regard to-the-race-until la ter j
but owing to the fact that two
candidates from Idabel have al-
t ready announced for the office
of Senator and have' already
commenced to “sheel the woods”
each contending that he is the

the claim that Pushmatahajcoun

the office should be passed to the
other counties of the district un-
der the rotation scheme This
clim was recognized by the vo

that Senator Steward was re-elec
ted over a candidate from Choc
taw County As is well known
Senator Steward moved to Hugo
after he had served through the
first session'ef his second term
1 However my candidacy is not
based upon any such claim to the
office The office of Senator be-
longs to the people of the entire
District and our primary elect-
ion laws -were framed for the
very purpose of allowing the vot-
ers an opportunity to select their
officers on account of A their fit-
ness for jthe positions for which
they aspire regardless of their
place of residence If I felt I
had no other qualifications for
the office of senator than that I
happen to live in Choctaw coun-
ty and that Choctaw county is
entitled to name the senator at
this time I should not be a can-
didate Nor do I ask the voters
of Choctaw county to support me
Solely on account of the fact I am-
a home county man I ask you
to examine my record-and qual
ifications for the office Weigh
them in comparison with those
of my opponents fand vote for the
best interest of the District
I shall make an- active- cam-
paign for the nomination and
election during which I shall
make known my position on all
public questions having any bear
ing on the office of Senator and
shall risk my claims to election to
the decision of the voters of the
entire district and in the mean-
time I ask your kindly consider-
ation Respectfully

To the Citizens of Choctaw
County
You are no doubt aware of the
fact that Lam at this time a can-
didate for County Treasurer of
this county subject to the action
of the Democratic party I am
to most of you no stranger hav-
ing spent the greater part of my
life in Oklakoma and jiving in
Choctaw county before it was a
county Have always been a fol-
lower of the Democratic Party
and an active worker for the in-
terest of the Democratic cause
I have never held a political of
fice though ypu will doubtless
remember that I was a candidate
for this office two yers ago and
was defeated by the present in-
cumbent I appreciate the sup
part I received two years ago
and' assure you that I will appre-
ciateciate your support in this
race It gives me pleasure to
annonnee that I am meeting with
great encouragement in this cam
paign Many who declared them
sei vcd oS?!Pst me before are a-
moirg my strongest supporters
now I wish to add that I do
not count you pay enemies if you
do not vote for'me If you do
not feel that I would be fair and
ju3t to ofr people then yau would
do an injustice to them to vote'
°BeIefving that
of the fact that 1
you Are aWare
I would appreci-
ate the place as Treasurer of our
county and shall strive to show
my appreciation by devoting my
time to your interest that you
will give me your support and in-
