May Sea Around World
Through Inventions
of Englishmen
London June 9 — The marvels of
the lvnnoscope the invention by means
of whloh it Is olaimed any one oan see
round the world were explained to an
Express representative by the inventor
All the old diffloult problems of mak-
ing people invisible seeing through a
brick wall and corresponding direct
with friends in New York are solved
If the lynnoacope fulfills its promises
John Wellesley Lynn the inventor
claims that he has proved by actual
experiments that his instrument will
allow people in London to see any one
iu Amerioa instantaneously reflect
any written message at once to the
most distant plaoes and enable any
person to see throngh anr human being
or solid substance as if they were not
there
"The lynnoscope consists of three
distinct instruments" said the inven-
tor "They are used in reflecting im-
ages like a mirror and are not con-
nected by wires or worked by eleotrio
ity These Instruments are: The
operator the transmitter and the re-
ceiver “The operator is like a -targe square
box with a hole in each end mounted
on the end of a telegraph pole while
the transmitter is a smaller box It
contains however a telescopio ar-
rangement which focuses the image
from the operator At the other end
where the image Is to be reflected is
another box-like arrangement At one
end it has a large brass funnel like a
phonograph and at the other's screen
on which the Image is reflected as in a
looking glass All that is necessary in
sending reflections any distanoe over
land is to fix a transmitter on the high-
est available point — a hill top or a
tower— and the image is correctly re
fleeted in the receiver It will b9 pos-
sible to present an actual reflection of
the Derby being rnn to an andienoe at
a matinee at any London theater I
do not mean a living cinematograph
picture bnt an actual reflection of the
event I have secured perfect reflec-
tions at a distance of 188 miles and I
have photographed soenes eighty miles
away
"I experimented at Buckingham pal-
ace and the lynnoscope made a wom-
an who was present — a niece of Mr
Frith the veteran artist— apparently
invisible Sir Thomas Lipton and
other gentlemen have interested them-
selves In the invention and have writ-
ten expressing themselves perfectly
satisfied with the experiments I have
been at work on the invention for nine
years and was working all the time on
a pre-oonoeived scheme A curious
accident however helped me to the
solntion I was working in my study
with my apparatus and looking
through saw iwhat appeared to be a
bole in plaoeof the floor I saw to my
surprise that I could see right throngh
caryet and fljor-to a transmitter in the
cellar I hive been awarded a diploma
at the inventivis exhibition for optical
discovery and am willing to show
what I can do before any committee of
scientific experts"
