KANSAS CITY LIVE STOCK
MARKET REPORT.
Kansas City Stock Yards, March
'5. '9°9- There was a good run
in the xuarantine division here
last week and sales were generally
pleasing to shippers, although the
general market declined 10 to 25
cents for the week, due to heavy
run of cattle at all other markets
Two weeks of uninterrupted sharp-
ly higher prices brought out a lib-
eral supply, hut owners as a rule
are confident, and moderate sup-
plies are anticipated for several
weeks ahead, with strength in prices
the dominant feature. Run of
quarantines today is 66 car loads,
market steady to 10 lower, but
active, ami everything readily sold
Top prices today was paid for some
1200 lb. steers from Verdon, Okla.,
and two loads of yearlings steers
and heifers 611 lbs. from same ship
per sold at $5.40. Other steers
sold today at $5.50 to 5.95 and
l ght steers brought $4.95 to 5.25
There was quite a representation
from Texas toda(| including a j
string of Furnoaux steers from
Rockwell, 1250 lbs. at $5.90 and
5 75' seven loads of Samson steers
from Brownwood, 1132 lbs. at
$5-5°. and some S67 lb. steers from
J. D. Suggs, Bel ton, at $4.95. Bulls
sold today at $3.80 and 4.00, cows
S3.50 to 4.75, calves 55.00 to 6.50
choice light veals worth $7.50.
1 lie hog run was lkjeral last
week at 76,000 head, about of the
same volume as corresponding week
a year ago. Buyers from eastern
killlers lent animation to the de-
mand and forced packers into great-
er activity, the net result for the
week being an advance of 20 to 25
cents in prices. Run is 15,000
head today, market 5 to 10 lower
heavy hogs $6.65 to 6.72 1-2, medi-
um weights $6.50 to 6.70, lights
56.25 to 655 pigs $4.75 to 5.75
Interviews with packers indicate
that the east is bare with hogs,
which should insure a good trade
with killers there at this market
and give strength to the situation
for some time ahead.
