wedlock hence the fiftieth an-
niversary is called a Golden
wedding

Bergthold the joys and sorrows
of half a century of married life
has not been denied The
fiftieth milestone was passed
Sunday September 24th and
was fittingly celebrated
During the summer all mem-
bers of the family had written
letters to the aged couple in gold
ink These letters sixty-four
in all were bound in leather a
precious keepsake for the sun-
set slope of life
This book with its messages of
love from Canada India Cali-
fornia and other points in the
home land besides from the
children living nearby was kept
a secret from Father and Mother
Bergthold and came to them a
pleasing ’surprise and was read
when the family gathered in
honor of the day
