Clinic Association Essay Writing Contest
THIRD PRIZE WINKER
DORCAS BROWN
A clinic Is needed In Selling be-
lt Is the center of a large
community and also It brings med-
ical specialisation to the home
While Selling is not far from
other towns It serves as a school
center and trading point for a
large area If we have a clinic
here It will be more convenient
for the people who come here for
school and trade They wouldn't
have to seek strange doctors sines
they would have an opportunity
to know the ones here
In former times the community
was treated by one doctor who
carried all of hla equipment In a
little brown bag He treated all
eases with the same type of medi-
cine and If the patient didn't re-
spond well it was Just one of
thoee things In those days the
span of life was very short To-
day with the advance of science
a vast amount of equipment to
diagnose and treat aU cases Is
necessary This Is not only ex-
pensive but also requires more
space than the average doctors
office The answer to this Is a
clinic where rooms will be pro-
vided for the equipment and the
expense shared
Happiness comes from a sense
of security for the health of our
loved once Bo let us provide con-
venience efficiency and happiness
by building a clinic In Belling

“Any town the sixe of Selling and
with as much activity as Selling
needs a clinic
In the fall and spring Selling
Is the center of activity of this
section of the country The big
races for which Selling is so wide-
ly known brings people from all
Over Oklahoma and1 many of the
neighboring states
Belling Is expanding rapidly
New houses are going up every
day
In the Selling school Itself the
enrollment has Increased more
than 40 percent in the last four
yean
To give the people of the Sell-
ing community the security they
are entitled we are in serious need
of a clinic It would not paly give
the people of the community se-
curity but It would help to safe-
guard the lives of the children
who will some day be the leaders
of our nation
What could we lose In a pro-
ject like 'this? Nothing But we
have everything to gain
A clinic In Belling might save
a countless number of Uvea In
case of an emergency What would
Woodward have done Without Its
clinics and hospitals when they
were as badly needed T What If
they bad failed their people T
Yea ws neeed a clinic for many
reaaona not counting the fact that
It would step up the day whea
Belling will be independent aad
and rely on Its own stability

Quail hunters were again urged
by Kelly DeBusk state game and
fish director to report all leg-

end of the 1247 season approaches

been made to the state game de-
partment to date DeBusk said
Despite much publicity given

leased from the state quail hatch-
ery In Oklahoma heating fields

that the department Is anxious to
receive reports from all hunters
who bag the hatchery-released
birds
“Moreover" the game director
pointed out “we are anxious that
the hunters kUl as many of the
hatchery birds as they can find
for field research has shown that
few birds either native or hatch-
ery reared survive their first
year Invariably a survey of one
season’s statewide UU will show
that the majority of quail kUled
are young of the year”
Hunters are also urged by De-
Busk to discontinue hunting the
areas where quail are scarce dur-
ing the remainder of the season
since many conservationists have
expressed alarm over this year's
scarcity of bobwhltes in many
