Time Table
The hunting season in Okla
according to law for which
license is issued runs from May
1st to May 1st Therefore the
hunter who purchased his license
early in the season gets the most
use of it for the same money
The hunting license is $125 and
non-resident lisceuse is $25CKi
Hunters who purchase theii
license now get the use of it up
to May 1 1918 and if they wail
until next November or Decem-
ber they must pay the same
price for the license aud it ex-
pires on the same date
Many people- violate the Jaw
because they do not know what
the law is and every person who
is intereeied is urged to get in
communication with G A Smith
State Game and Fish Warden
and receive a copy of the Game
and Iish Laws of Oklahoma as
amended by the last Legislature
The open season for hunting oi
a great many animals and bird
has been amended and each
hunter should know the law
The law is drawn to proteol
the game and fish protect tin
farmer on whose land fish anc
game is located and the State
is now authorized to go into the
propagation buisuess Two fish
Hatcheries have already been
established and game preserve
will be establisCed in the neai
future It is the intention of the
Fisli'aud Game Department to
furnish young fish to every per-
son who has a good pond and
probably later on to furnish
pheasants or quails or the eggt
of theso birds to such as will
propagate aud protect them

CURING LIMBER NECK
K M T
I have Been several inquires
for a remedy for limber neck
among chickens recently and
for the benefit of any whose
fowls are affected will give what
I know’ to be a very excellent
cure I am not giving something
that I heard but something I
have used with perfect success
I had lost about BO hens before
I learned of the treatment but
did not lose anotner after I tried
it
Saturate a long feather with
Ipirtist of turpentine and swab
the throat of the infected bird
One application is usually suffi-
cient I cured fows that were
nearly gone not being able to
staud up eat or drink
I have been advised thet it is
not best to use stock that has
been cured of limber neck foi
breeding purposec but 1 do not
know whether or not they would
be disqualified
Of course the fow ls should be
put on a light diet and kept
cool and quiet for a time after
treatment

POISONOUS SNAKES
Aside from the harlequin
snake of Florida there are only
three species of poisonous snakes
in the United States These
are the rattlesnake widely dis-
tfibuted easily identified and
moBt dangerous of them all the
copperhead of mountains and
rocky places and the mocasin of
the southern swamps which ex-
tends no farther north than
Southern Ohio and Wilmington
North Carolina
When itis established that
one of these has ‘ inflicted a
wound the first action should be
to tie a handkerchief or cord or
rope about the bitten member
between the incision and the
heart This should Le knotted
tight with the object of preven-
ting the blood from carrying the
poison into the general system
Then as quickly as possible the
mouth of the bitten person or a
companion should be applied to
the wound which should - le
vigorously sucked that the pois-
on may be drawn out 'Tim
sucking must be done by some-
one whose mouth is in perfect
condition however An abrasion
or crack of the lips a broken
fever blister will jivo the poison
Another access to the blood The
iueisions should be cut that they
may be made to bleed freely
and tire sucking continued This
is the most imxiortant thing that
can he done to save the life
The popular idea that the ad-
ministration of large quantitie
of whiskey counteracts the pris-
on is -entirely in error' Such
treatment the experts say
makes death much rabre proba-
hie Small amounts of wlutkey
to stimulate theheart action are
beneficial but large quantitieB
only throw additional burdens
on the heart when life depends
upon its efficiency Whiskey
has probably killed more snake-
bitten people than it has ever
saved Better leave it alone
than take too touch-“Exchange
