NOTICE TO TAXPAYERS
Tire assessment law has been
changed I am taking this way
to notify the people and ain
quoting the law in parths fol-
lows: Chapter 103 section 6 Session
- Laws 1915 :
“The County Assessor shall on
the loth day of January of each
year proceed to take a list of all
taxable property in the county
and assess the value thereof as
of January 1 in the following
manner to-wit : By posting no-
tices in three or more conspicu-
ous places in each city or voting
precinct at leat ten days prior
t the date the Assessor will
meet the taxpayers to list their
property and said Assessor shall
remsm in each city or oting pre-
cinct one day for each sixty votes
or major fraction thereof in said
city or voting precinct If any
taxpayer shall fail to meet the
Assessor and list his property on
the date advertised iu Ills voting
precinct -he may meet him in
another township or voting pre-
cinct aud list sare If any tax-
payer by reason of sickness or
other unavoidable circumstances
shall not be able to meet the
Assessor ou the date advertised
he may render a written list of
all his personal property includ-
ing a legal description of all his
real estate if any and shall sub-
scribe and" swear to the oath re-
quired by each taxpayer as to its
coriectness
“After the County Assessor
shall have visited each city-or
voting precinct in compliance
with the foregoing provisions of
this act l e shall give notice in
some newspaper of geueral cir-
culation published in said coun-
ty that he will be in his office
at the county seat the next
twenty days for the purpose of
assessing those who have not
assessed their property for the
current year At the expiration
of twenty days thoso who have
falied to assess their property
for the current year shull be de-
clared delinquent urd a penalty
of $100 for such failure shall be
added to his or her tax”
The law also provides that the
land shall not be assessed this
year but taken the same as last
year

FIRST SNOW
The first' snow of the seascil
fell Friday morning and for a
few hours it looked very much
as though we would have a
wliij Chritmas but after about
an inch fell the sun broke tliro
the clouds and melted it The
moisture that accompanied the
snow was very acceptable
The wheat market opened at
$1 Monday morning
The Trice home was the scone
of gayety Christmas when the
different members of the fami-
ly gathered there in honor of the
occasion A Christinas tree and
dinner were the features and
tho day was one long to bo rem-
embered by all present

Jones were in town Tuesday af-
ter material for bouse improve-
ments on the Jones place Mr
JoTies recently came here from
Illinois and purchased the Wal-
ton place west of town

A Dunn was shot in the arm
by Marsha I Keyel Mr Dunn
had started out on a Christmas
celebration when he encountered
the marshal and was tob to keep
off tho streets but instead of
going home he wanted to argue
the question and empiliasized it
with a Flash light knocking
Revely down twice before tho
officer used Ins gun Tho shot
is only a flesh wound and Dunn
is getting along all right He
appeared before Judge Homes
Saturday and paid a fiue fyj
