Geary and Bridgeport to Have
Bl« Baakot Dinner at the
New River Bridie
A meeting of the business men j
and citizens was held at T. J.
Ballew's office last Saturday ev-
ening for the purpose of making
v preparations for Geary and
j \ Bridgeport to celebrate the open
ing of the new bridge recently
completed over the South Cana-
dian river near Bridgeport. T
J. Ballew acted as chairman and
C. J. Nelson secretary. It was
dbcided to have a big picnic and
basket dinner at the bridge next j
Wednesday, Jan. 20th. There
will be speaking by prominent;
men, among them probably our
new governor, and there will also
be other amusements. All the
automobile owners have been re-
quested to decorate their ' cars
join in the parade to the bridge.
Everybody is earnestly requested
to bring their "grub" baskets
and take part, and with the citi
zens of the south side, m^ke it ^
the biggest celebration this part
of Oklahoma has pulled off 'for
may years. A* committee has
been appointed to make and fur-
nish hot coffee free to all.
Mayor Fittell has issued a proc
lamation asking all the business
men to close their places of busi
ness on that day from 10:30 a.
I m. to 4:30 p, m., and no doubt
they will all do so. The Geary
band (what is left of it) will be
on hand and furnish their share of
noise and enthusiasm.

are going to feature a great many specials in

The Parent-Teachers' Associa-
tion has taken another step to-
wards the securing of a piano for
the school. This means that a
piano will soon be in the sch<x>l.
They are having a box supper on
Friday night, Jan. 15th, in the
high school auditorium. This is
an old time affair, in fact it is
so old it is new to many, and
promises to recall clays gone by. -K

Whereas the citizens of Geary
and Bridgeport have joined in a
big celebration of the opening
for traffic of the wagon bridge
over the Canadian river between
Geary and Bridgeport on Wed-
nesday, January 20th, 1915; and
Whereas it is desired that every
one have a chance to attend this
celebration and picnic;
Now therefore, I, Geo. Fittell,
Mayor of the City of Geary,
hereby declare a holiday in this
City on Jan. 20th, and respectful-
ly ask that all business houses
close from 10:80 a. m. 'till 4:30
p. m. on that day, and that all
business men and citizens attend
this celebration.
