The grand jury at Muskogee adjourn-
ed yesterday after returning 123 true
bills, six of which were indictments for
murder, makiug a total of thirty-eight
murder cases now pending in tbe
Northern dietrict, and live rape cases
There are now 316 prisoners in the
Mnakogee jail, and twenty-seven were
sent to the northern prisons this week
The grand jury ignored fifty cases
where parties had been under bond by
the United States commissioners. This
includes many Rochester tonic cases
where the sellers have closed their
feints since tbe court of appeals de-
cision.
Congress will hardly go ont of the
way to give the Indian Territory a rep
reeeatatlve. and the efforta being put
ferth to secure one appears to be only a
waste of time and energy. The matter
«raa folly tested two year* ago, when
Attorney Nelson, of Muskogee, was
elected territorial delegate to Washing
ton. When he applied for a seat in tbe
house of representatives. Old Tom
Heed gave him tbe horse laugh and
kicked hiin out. Later on, still with a
lingering hope. Mr. Nelson sneaked
into a seat with the conteating repre
aentativrs. Speaker Reed soon spied
him there, and ordered bim bonnec-d
oat of tbe house and dogged out of
town, which, when executed, com
pletelv blasted Mr. Nelson'* ambition.
It is very important that every legal
voter in Claremore should exercise hi*
best discriminating faculties in tbe
matter of selecting a| competent and
trustworthy school board at the
acbool election to-day. The list of
nominees is long an ! embraces many
good men, but sotns of tbsin are better
fitted than others for the onerous duties
that will devolve u|>on them In laying
the foundation and renriug the free
schools for thia city. Too much care
cannot be taken In picking out the
alx men who are to compose "the board,
fur upon them will depend the success
nr failure of the schools. Claremore
should by all means have good public

sMd the only way to insure this is to
