The Watonga Republican after
a long and strenuous fight, broke

at least, the robbing that was

I)o you remember the lazy fel
i lows who used to sit around in
j the implement store and the bar-
j ber shops in the old home town
and predict the failure of every
boy who tried to poke his nose
; above the common herd?
i Up in the village of Salem they
used to crack lots of jokes at the
expense of a lank and ungainly
young fellow who clerked in the
village grocery, poled flat boats
on the river and split rails for a
living. They called him Abe in
those days. He became the pres-
ident of the United States and
thousands from far places on the
earth have visited his tomb at
Springfield to do him honor.
They used to make fun of Bill I
McAdoo back in the old home!
town. Of course you've heard j
of Bill. He dug a tunnel under j
the Hudson river and is secretary j
i of the treasury now.
But there are a lot of old tadsj
back in the old home town whoj
sort of hope that Bill will fall
over something yet and land in
the consomme.
Years ago there were a bunch
of smart guys in a city not far
away who used to laugh openly
at a kid named Bryan who had an
idea that he was an orator and
could make a good speech.
And Orville Wright was a reg-
ular joke in his old home town.
It is the old home town itself
that is the joke. Ex.
It Always Helps
says Mrs. Sylvania Woods, of Clifton Mills, Ky.t In
writing of her experience with Cardui, the woman's
tonic. She says further: "Before I began to use
Lardui, my back and head would hurt so bad, I
thought the pain would kill me. I was hardly able
to do any of my housework. After taking three bottles
of Lardui, I began to feel like a new woman. I soon
gained 35 pounds, and now, I do all my housework,
as well as run a big water mill.
I wish every suffering woman would give
Cardui
The Woman's Tonic
a trial. I still use Cardui when I feel a little bad.
and it always does me good."
Headache, backache, side ache, nervousness,
tired, worn-out feelings, etc., are sure signs of woman-
ly trouble. Signs that you need Cardui, the woman's
tonic, i ou cannot make a mistake in trying Cardui

Here is a minister who appre-
| ciates the editor. At a recent
! editorial convention he offered
the following toast: "To save
an editor from starvation, take
his paper and pay for it prompt-
ly. To save him from bankrupt-
cy. advertise in his paper liber-
ally. To save him from dispair,
send him every item of news of
which you can get hold. To save
him from profanity, write your
correspondence plainly on one
side of the sheet and send n as
early as possible. To save him
from mistakes bury him. Dead
people are the only ones who
never make mistakes."
