market when the price of Jead con-
centrate waa advanced $947 a ton
bringing it to $16060 contract Ba-
sie The new Eagle-Plcher contract
price la based on the pig lead quo-
tation of 1235 cent a pound East
St Louie which wae established on
Monday December 16 end a metal
recovery of 90 per cent from 80
per cent concentrates less a smelt-
charge of $1734 a ton The smelting
charge wae increased 60 cents a ton
following a wage Increase of 6 cents
an hour at the Galena Kansas lead
smelter of the company
The galena price was increased
from $16102 based on 1166-cent
metal East St Louis which had
prevailed lines the week ending last
November 23 It was then at the
highest open market level in the
history of the local mining Held
The previous high was in February
1925 when it brought $146 a ton
During the second week in Novem
her the price had increased $3240
a ton when metal advanced from
810 to 1035 cents a pound East
St Louis
With no change in the slab sine
quotations price of sine concen-
trates on the local market contin
ued at $64 a ton for both mill and
float grades based on 1050 cent a

rector the contents of which fol-
low: "In view of the fact that an
unusual number of cases of Tuler-
emia the so called “rabbit fever”
have occurred in Ottawa and ad-
joining Counties I desire to warn
our citiiens of the danger of con-
tracting this deaee There are sever
al sources from which it comes
the most common being from in-
fected rabbits Anyone handling
wild rabbits should wear rubber
gloves while skinning them and
the flesh meet must be thoroughly
cooked The disease begins within
a few days after exposure The
symptoms are very much like a
moderately severe case of Influen
ts with enlarged and painful
lymph glands You should consult
your physician if there is any pos
sibility of your having this infect-
