Karl 11 llodgklnsou
Earl T) Hodgkinson was born Mav
17th 1895 in Kl Reno Oklahoma and
died at the El lieno Sanitarium Octob-
er 16th 1922 from injuries received
while at work as a switchman in the
Rock Island vards age 27 years 4
months and 28 dns Earl was the
youngest son of Mr and Mrs F !
Hodgkinson his father having preced-
ed him in death 5 years ago
October 7th 1919 he was inarmed to
Evangeline Robinson One child was
born to this union a baby girl Dorothy
Louise seven months old
As a child Karl was devoted to his
Sunday' school and was awarded a gold
pin for faithful attendance being pres-
ent for a period of 1C months without
missing a Sumlav At ten ears of age
he became a member of the Christian
Church having confessed his faith in
his Master and obeyed Him in Chrls-
tian baptism He continued to live
through life that proved his character
to be the product of a Christian home
and church During the World War he
showed the true spirit of an American
Fiatriot and gave 16 months of service
n France fighting for his country'
Earl was regarded by all who knew
him as a young man much above the
average true and manlv in his way He
was especially devoted to his home life
always more considerate of his widow-
ed mother his wife and baby than of
his own desires Nothing ever seemed
too hard for him to undergo for the
comfort of those who looked to him
for support He seemed to combine
those manly graces modesty patience
kindliness and unselfishness to such a
' marked degree that made him loved
not only In his home circle but won
for him the admiration of his fellow-
workmen and all with whom he asso-
ciated He lived the life beautiful His
Virtues were not tacked on convention-
al or strained but grew up with him
tinfolding as a flower in a most nat-
ural way
‘ He glorified the common offices of
husband father son and neighbor-
man's greatest work
b The patience and kindliness that
which characterised his living were
present during the last moments of his
life here He was aware that the fatal
blow that struck him down was the last
t and fully realised that the end was
fkst approaching and he was not un-
willing to go neither was he unpre-
pared Near the closing of his last mftt
ynents he sent a farewell message to
his wife and died praying
Much sadness Is felt In this city at
the loss of this young husband mid
J son His place cannot another take
