— Fairly liberal receipts of cattle
sold at steady prices Good fat cat-
tle were scarce and sold readily No
prime grades offered Feeder de-
mand was large Less than 4000
cattle the smallest supply since
early in August was carried over
from last week Hog prices were
Aharpiy higher under urgent de-
mand from both packers and ship
pers Sheep and lambs found a
ready outlet at 25 cents higher

Today's Receipts
Receipts today were 34000 cat-
tle 11000 hogs and 8000 sheep
compared with 35000 cattle 14-
hogs and 9000 sheep a week ago
and 36 775 cattle 20800 hogs
and 4000 sheep a year ago New
Mexico contributed the largest sup-
ply of cattle thus far this season
Other range cattle came from Texas
Coloiado and Idaho
Reef Steers
A good many wai med up steers
sold at $1400 to $1600 or fully
steady with last week Thick
fleshed grain fat steers were lack-
ing and have been for some time
past Grass fat steers sold mostly
at $975 to $1350 tops up to $14-
00 Killers are getting less good
beef than a year ao Their pur-
chases of medium to fair kinds are
large Fewer grass fat cattle will
arrive this week than last and an
abrupt falling off is expected in the
movement next week Cows are
selling at $525 to $1225 Those
above $1150 are fed grades and

cattle which slackened the middle
of last week owing to rough weath-
er revived today and prices are
firm compared with a week ago A
large number of visitors to the
American Royal Cattle Show are
buying this week Feeders good to
choice are quoted at $1000 to $14-
00 Those above $1200 carry con-
siderable flesh Stockers are selling
at $750 to $1125
Hogs
Hog prices today advanced 25 to
4 0 cents and the market here ruled
highei than elsewhere The top
price was $1490 and the bulk of
the bogs sold at $1440 to $1480
Most of the urgent demand came
from packets though shippers
bought freely also Pigs and thin
liogs found a ready outlet to feed-
ers at $1350 to $1450 Receipts

In receipts of 8000 only a few
loads of range sheep and lambs
were offered indicating that the
range movement is about ended Na-
tive lambs sold up to $1475 and
yearlings up to $1175 They were
2 3 cents higher Plainer lambs at
$1425 to $1450 showed a similar
advance Feeders are quoted at
$1250 to $1325

reservations he told Senator Hitch-
