COTTON TENANTS
Oklahoma City Sept- 9 — The
publicly made charges by Monian
Pruiett prominent Democrat mem-
ber of the Constitutional Conven-
tion that Democratic negro politi-
cians are responsible for the trou-
bles of Inman Page who recently
resigned as president of the color-
ed A & M college at Langston
has led to the discovery of plans to
( ijrganize a negro auxiliary as a
part of the Williams machine
While the general public has been
permitted to believe that “there
aint no snch animal” as the negro
Democratic politician those who
have watched closely the machina-
tions of tbe administration men
have known for some time that
systematic efforts have been made
to build up a Democratic uegro or-
ganization - It is understood however that
the Democratic negro converts are
practically limited to a few men
who have accepted positions at the
hands of the administration The
great majority of the negroes seem
to prefer even the danger of dis-
franchisement to becoming a part
of the Williams machine There-
fore administration supporters are
still figuring on having an extra
session called for the purpose of
devising some sort of a law which
will be designed to disfranchise the
negro If this is done an atlempt
will probably be made to make the
law sufficiently broad so as to atso
result in disfranchising some of the
white men in the southern part of
the state who have shown a dispo-
sition -to desert the Democratic
party This applies especially 'to
many of the cotton tenants who
have been voting the Socialist tick-
et The reason for the delay of the
Governor in calling this special ses-
sion is said to be that uith all his
experience as a lawyer and judge
he has thus far failed to devise
such a luw as would not be con-
temptuous violation of the recent
decision rendered by the Supreme
Court of the United States

HAVING HARO TIME TO
GET POOLHALL LICENSE
Nick Lemmer a native of Bel-
gium leased the Dawson Beals
pool hall in Shattuck with the un-
derstanding that the deal was off
if he could not get a license to op-
erate it He made an application
for the license about the first of the
month to County Judge Miller and
the Judge set Wednesday of this
week for a hearing in his case
J D Parker of Shattuck and
County Attorney Ransdell presented-
to the Court a remonstrancei
signed by fifty or more of tbe best
citizens of Shattuck against the is-
suance of the license
The booze record in the Santa Fe
depot at Shattuck shbwed that Mr
Lemmer had a fondness for John
Barleycorn and the license was re-
fused him
