Oklahoma City Okla Aug 21 —
An outstanding result of the recent
convention of the Oklahoma Farmers'
Union in this city was the adoption
of a set of resolutions outlining the
position of the union in regard to a
number of governmental questions
As a foreword to the resolutions it
was stated:
' “All agricultural products are at
a pry-war price level everything that
the farmer buys is from twenty-five
to one hundred per cent higher than
the pre-war level including taxes in-
terest and freight rates If the farm-
ers are to continue to feed and clothe
the world the prices of their products-
must equal the cost of produc-
tion When the farmer prospers all
laboring men have work and that
makes business good"
Want Fraa Teat Books
'’ Among the list of demands set
forth in the resolutions are the fol-
lowing: Free text books printed by the
state a state tannery and leather
goods manufactory at the state pen-
itentiary state automobile taxes to
be apportioned to the county in which
the auto taxed is used an anti-discrimination
bill a warehouse bill all
expenses of school above a 15-mill
levy for a aeven-month term to be
paid by the state no more tax-free
securities td be issued that flour
mills and coal mines must be regu-
lated by the state corporation com-
mission just as cotton gins now are-
cost of higher education for children

tricts be removed from 'the home dis-

That the government accept Hen-
ry Ford’s offer for the Muacie Shoala
power property a change in the gov-
ernmental money system to give
farmers equal credit facilities with
other classes a graduated gift and
inheritance tax which would give to
the government all of an estate above
one million dollars a governmental
guarantee of the minimum prices for
certain agricultural staples lower
rail rates both freight and passenger
with ut- reduction of wages -paid to
railroad workers governmental econ-
omy in public building expenditure
abolition of the war tax on notes
Included in the body of the reso-
lutions was one which announced the
policy of the farmers’ union toWard
labor unions “We think it would not
be practical to amalgamate with oth-
er unions” it was stated “but we do
believe in cooperating with all
unions” Sympathy was expressed
for striking railroad men and miners
Co-Operative Move Endorsed
The farmers' cooperative move-
ment was endorsed and plans for its
furtherance were suggested The es-
tablishment of a group of chain stores
as branch stores of the Farmers’
Union Exchange was advocated Ac-
cording to the plan 'the exchange
would be made into a wholesale houe
and the chain stores obligated to buy
from it

DON'T wuste time In sighing
For old days
Don’t waste time In crying
For old ways
Better days than yesterdays
Leave no time for sorrow
On them hotter flx your gnsce—
Today and tomorrow
Don't waste time In fretting
For lost hours
Don't waste time regretting
The lost flowers
Better hoars ore growing
Than memory rati borrow
R wee ter flowers are blowing
Today Bud tomorrow
Don't waste time repining
O’er bad iluys
Don't waste time declining
The good ways
Smile and look around you
And new courage borrow
Better days surround you—
Today and tomorrow
