director of the Better Vision institute New York city educators have failed
to grasp the importance of rapid silent reading and he points out that col-

Tuesday was election day and
what a day It was with anxiety dis-
appointments rejoicing hard feelings
and good feelings But the smoke of
the battle is clearing away and we
are all again getting back to normal-
acy Our vote of thanks for the most
courteous and obliging election offic-
ials goes to Mrs George Simon with -Jack
Boling a ’ close second they
both gave us the local returns as
soon as they could Thank you both
The county and state ballots voted
on in Healdton contained 101 names
which represented 19 offices this
doesn’t Include the Republican tick-
et all of these with the three initia-
tive petitions caused the local boxes
to be over three hours late with their
tabulations
We understand that Airtight Joe
backed the wrong man in the Com-
missioners race thus losing all the
proceeds of his truck patch Tbe boys
say the funeral will be held later
It has been suggested that J W

make a sworn statement that they
were in the races of this election
What’s in a name asks Shakes-
peare the poet Plenty we say if it
happens to be Will Rogers A bird
of this name entered the race for
Congressman-at-large and 107 voters
of Healdton voted for him thinking
he was or might be the great Will
Rogers of Claremore and Hollywood
Every person who calls themselves
a Democrat should get out and work
to put over the Democratic presiden-
tial ticket of Roosevelt-Garner If
Garner is willing to step down from
the Speakership to Vice President
you as a Democrat should back he
and Roosevelt Garner is certainly
sacrificing himself for his party
