Mrs Burton the wife of Joe
Burton living northwest of
Randlett died Sunday eve-
ning The remains were laid
to rest in the Randlett cem-
etery She is survived by her
husband twin babies about
three weeks of age and three
other children The News
joins the many friends she
left in sympathy for this be-
reaved family
About 25 airplanes landed
at Randlett Monday morning
before many of the residents
had arisen for the day
“Uncle” Ben Suter attend-
ed the big patriotic celebra-
tion at Walters Monday
Dave Oxley' president of the
local Council of Defense 'was
appointed chairman of 'the
Third Liberty Loan Drive
Randlett sent quite a large
amount of clothing to Walters
which had been taken up for
the destitute Belgians Rand-
lett is to be commended for
this humane act
A number of Randlett peo-
ple attended the organizing of
a Council of Defense at Rab-
bit Creek last week The fol-
lowing were elected officers:

Mr Edwards secretary
Bird Creek Council of De-
fense will ’ organize this week

attending the big patriotic
meeting in Walters Monday

Everything is lovely now and
the goose hangs high all up
and down Rabbit "Creek Ev-
ery old moss back you meet
has a smile on his face a yard
wide since the big fine rain
which fell Friday evening Big
Rabbit Creek in places was
300 yards wide It has helped
this country many 'thousands
of dollars About three inches
of rain fell south of Randlett
and it is claimed that five
inches of rain fell in and
around Randlett A big hail
storm came with the rain at
Randlett but the hail was very
small
Edward Owens called on Mr
and Mrs C Farrington Sun-
day morning
L L Elkins drove to Burk-
burnett Saturday Lee re-
ports lots of people being in
the little oil city
A big Easter egg hunt was
given in the Tom King’s big
pasture Sunday for the bene-
fit of the little children in the
vicinity Over 200 eggs were
hidden A large crowd of
youngsters took part in the
hunt All had a fine time
Taylor Spencer who lives
one mile west of the Rabbit
Creek schoolhouse lost a fine
mule last Saturday by blood
poison Taylor had just re-
cently paid $175 for the mule
Fishing on Big Rabbit Creek
is good now Mrs Edward
Owens was fishing Saturday
afternoon and caught over 30
some weighing as much as two
pounds and none under one
pound They were all catfish
Roy Fowler reports as hav-
ing over 100 acres of wheat
high enough to hide a jack
rabbit' running through it
