Monday morning during the
absence of Mr and Mrs L A
Mills a flying spark from the
10-30 passenger train took refuge
in the root of their house and
burned a space about fifty square
feet The usual good efforts of
the townspeople made it possible
for the house to b saved and the
loss- which might have resulted
was averted
While shocks of wheat were
thoroughly soaked with water
last week the lightning struck
and burned completely a single
shock belonging to W C Suit
The peculiar part of this inci-
dent is that other objects such
as trees near by did not attract
the lightning The electrical cur-
rent is usually drawn to the high-
er objects
While enreute from points in-
Texas to Ames last week Mrs

trouble and died before 'medical

The body was brought here
Sunday on the afternoon train
and the funeral services were
