that very much interest was shown
this week but wo fount out that some

their tickets in order that they might
make a good showing for next week

look as if they will lead the ticket
next week by a great majority for

not knowing Just when they would bo

of the contest and either of the ladies
-would well represent Vian at the Cel-
ebration Don’t forget to vote your tickets

WRESTLING MATCH LAST WEEK
The wrestling mutch at the Won-
derland Theatre on last Friday even-
ing was enjoyed by a good crowd
The contestants were Omer Finney
who was Champion of the navy dur-
ing the years of 1920-1921 and Kid
Emmersoii heavyweight champion of
Fort Smith and Little Rock
The boys were on the mat for 85
minutes before a fall was perfected
Finney was the successful contestant
Finney has two belts one for being
the champion of the Atlantic fleet and
one for the Pacific fleet
- They will wrestle again on Satur-
day afternoon of this week at the
Wonderland Theatre which promiser
to be a good bout
Business men know the ad-

UNEASY ABOUT THE RIVER

Tueaday and Wednesday of thla
week the river was Ailing up the low

over some of the banVa but tho big

help to the farmer in helping to keep
the river within bounds of reason
It looked at some times as If it wa
going to go wild but tho head water
waa not sufficient to caura thla
Ws understand that some of tha
farmers on the bank of tha river haa
been hurt some but not to any great
extent

Nig Hall who played base ball with
the Three I League last year and made
a good record has signed again thia
year and left for Rockford Illinois
the latter part of last week to report
for duty
Nig is one of the fastest baU play
era in this part of the country and we
hope to see him in the very best of
company within the next few years
FIRE AT HOME BAKERY
A small blaxe started at the Home
Bakery the first of the week Which
waa extinguished without much
trouble These old buildings are
some day going to be torn down the
reason why they have not long ago
ia because they are in litigation and
We have been informed that they will
in the near future be turnd over to
the rightful owners by the courts and
then they will be able to do some
thing with them
Mr Jones was fortunate in not hav
ing a disastrous fire
SEQUOYAH COUNTY
SINGING CONVENTION
The Sequoyah County Convention
will meet at Akins Oklahoma Satur-
day April 22nd and 23rd 1922
Saturday at 10 a m will be the
regular organization work and all
will be done before noon if possible
afternoon will be for conventional
singing with regular business session
at night will be the musical conset-t
Meet Sunday at 9 a m
From 11 o’clock to noon the time
will be spent at singing the old time
songs for the old people
All lovers of good singing are in-
vited to attend
This is the twenty-ninth year since
the organization of this convention
and while we have had some great
conventions we are looking forward
to one of the greatest meetings in its
history

hosteBg last Friday evening to the
lady teachers of the faculty The
Easter motive was carried out in the

two members present and transacted

Before the Board of County Com-
clsaionera Sequoyah County State of
Oklahoma
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS on tho 25th day of July
1910 at an election duly and regu-
larly held for such purpose bonda of
Campbell township Sequoyah County
Oklahoma in the sum of fifteen thou-
sand dollars ($1500000) were voted
and subsequently issued by said town-
ship for the purpose of building a
bridge iipon tbe Albert Pike High-
way across the Illinois River in said
township) and
WHEREAS said bonds have been
sold and the sum of fifteen thousand
dollars ($1600000) Is now held by
the treasurer of said 8equoyah County
for the purpose of erection of said
bridge: and
WHEREAS in order to procure
Federal Aid in the erection of said
bridge it is necessary that said sum
of fifteen thousand dollars ($15000-
00) be deposited with the department
of highways of the State of Oklahoma
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVER
by this Board in regular aesalon as-
sembled that G W Lewellen County
Treasurer of Sequoyah County State
of Oklahoma be and he is hereby
ordered and directed to deliver to the
Department of Highways of the State
of Oklahoma the sum of fifteen thou-
sand dollars ($1500000) which he
now has on deposit’ belonging to
Campbell Tonwsihp in said County
for the purpose of the erection of a
bridge across the Illinois River above
