The picnic, democrat rally
and barbecue at the Washing
ton Spring, about three miles
southeast from Foyil, last Sat
urday, was a pronounced sue
cess in every particular. By
half past ten something like
400 people and &iteen or twen
ty candidates were on hands
The chairman called the as
semblage to order and intro-
duced C S Wortman who talk
ed in his usual fluent manner
for half an hour. The next or-
ator was Hon S L Johnson, of
Okmulgee, democrat candi-
date for congress. ^Ir John
son discussed national issues
in an able manner and proved
himself to be of Congressional
Calibre. He declared his anx
iety to undertake the job of
hanging Creager'&'hide on the
fense. He appearantly made a
great hit. Judge J W Swarts
then made a good speech, aft
er which dinner was called.
This was the interesting feat
ure of the occasion. There was
bread, nice juicy beef, fat pies
and fried chicken for all.
After dinner good speeches
were made by Gid Graham,
Tom Kight, Frank Ertel, D
G Elliott E C Alberty and
others All candidates being
given an oportunity. Good or-
der prevailed and "All went
merry as a marriage belle "

Graham at Chelsea
Saturday evening about 4
o'clock a large throng of farm-
ers and business men of Chel-
sea Und vicinity, were addrss
ed by Hon. Gid Graham, of
Catoosa, candidate for state
senator. He advocates fewer
laws,'and better enforcement
good roads and schools; the
conservation of our resources
and more of a "square deal'
for the farmer, business man
and laboring man. In the last
Senate there were only 8 farm
ers, the senare being compostd
of 8 farmers, 1 banker, 3 doc-
tors, 3 editors, 4 merchants,
5 realestate men, and 22 law-
yers. Mr Graham, is a man of
marked ability, has had a
varied business experience,
having served 4 years in the
mercantile business; 3 years
as a banker, and 17 years
farming and raising live stock
is our present chairman of the
board of County Commission-
ers, and has made an efiicient
officer. We predict that if he
is elected he will make ofl'r dis
trict a conservative, able and
fearless representative

C S Wortman candidate for
state senator. Mr Wortman is
a scholar and an orator and
adds lustre to any occasion
He is well known to the people
of Rogers county, having con-
vassed the county on former
occasions. He- has filled the
positions of city attorney at
Claremore and was a clerk in
the first legislature. He is the
present representative from
Rogers county and is askyig
your support on his official
record If nominated he prom
ises to skin his Republican
opponent, hands down, and
make the people a good senator
Dr Hensal reports a boy
born to Mr and Mrs Samuel
Dowling, Sunday, July 10.
An unfortunate drunken row
in which Chas Delozier lost
his lile took place at Chelsea
Saturday. Whether a blow by
Fred Coker or a horse kick did
the work is a problem for the
courts to decide. Whisky was
the cause of it all.
Miss Bee Stockton came
over from Sageeyah to visit
her sister Mrs W H Ward,
Hon T L Brown
District Judge. Candidate for
re-election.

has circulated the report in
this community that I'm oppo-
sed to any one who is not a
large property owner holding
office. There is no ground for
any such statement It is ab-
solutely false. I grew up as a
poor boy and have the highest
regard for the honest man who

Thos Griffin is visiting at his
old home in Missouri.
Mrs Geo Vincent and child-
ren returned from Tahlequah
first of the week.
Tom Cline was here from
Claremore Monday.
A drunken boy made quite
a hubub in Foyil Wednesday
evening. Deputy Sheriff Hol-
man took charge of the ' 'good
but misguided" youth who is
now reflecting on the error of
his way. Foyil people are be-
hind the officers In their eff-
orts to maintain law, order
and common decency.
Mrs A Foyil visited friends
at Sapulpa first of the week.
J M Gipson was down from
his farm near Bushyhead yes-
terday.
