with its policy of co-operation in the
movement to preserve the quality
value of cotton in the hands of both
grower and ginner the Corporation
Commission announced the appoint-
ment of two gin inspectors whose
duty it shall be to check all gins in
the state and assist them in eliminate
ing gin damage The men selected
are W P Latting of Chickasha and
Elmer Tomkins of Stillwater
"The commission recognises the
fact that an enormous loss results
to the Oklahoma cotton crop an-
nually through careless handling on
the part of both grower and ginner"
said Campbell Russell chairman of
the commission in discussing the ap-
pointments The men appointed will
inspect all gins in the state and make
detailed reports to the commission
on the condition of the various gins
for properly ginning cotton without
damage They will also co-operate
with the ginners in pointing out and
correcting conditions in their plants
which tend to lower the quality of
cotton in ginning The commission
hopes to receive the full co-operation
of the ginners in this inspection work
through which the commission be-
lieves many thousands of dollars will
be saved to the cotton growers of
th state on the 1922 now beginning
to move”
That the growers will welcome the
gin inspection and will also do their
part to deliver their cotton to the
gin in proper condition for ginning
is indicated by official of the Okla-
homa Cotton Growers Association
The association will co-operate with
the commission in any movement it
may undertake looking to elimina-
tion of avoidable damage to cotton

John Fields Will Have a Free Hand to Deal svith
yital Stale Problems in the Interests
of All the People
Wlielssome competition between political parties and between candidates
of either party makes for heller government During the recent ram palpi
competition between candidates of the party bi power -became decidedly
unwholesome lhcss greediest for voles reported lo the cheapest of po-
litical tricks Religions fraternal and racial prejudices were stirred up
Promises of partiality were made lo tad: no matter how their interests
might conflict Voters were blinded to real or political Issues In the re--i
suit more than half of the voters are bitterly dissatisfied and those whose
candidate was victorious are dubious for it Is easy to see that he cannot
treat fairly all to whom conflicting promises lave been made And In
keeping promises to ary private interest be cannot serve fairly the people
as a whole John Fields has the courage to eay to all that be will not
enter office unless free to act in the Interest of all regardless of their
political religious racial or fraternal affiliation let him tell you
otraigbt from the shoulder just where be stands and what be stands for

cured the nomination they have
found It necessary to promise every-

Bank Wreckers
The distressing situation arising
from the shameful administration of
th State Guaranty Law by the State
Banking Department muat bs faced
and overcome Tbo state is morally
bound to administer the remains of
this sacred trust to the end that It
may bo said in truth “Not a single de-
positor in any stato bank in Okla-
homa has ever lost a dollar” I do not
know how this can be done I cannot
know until after I get Inside and as-

3 Get Action on a Practical
Good Roads Program -
Oklahoma must develop and go for-
ward with a sound program for per-
manent road construction and main-
tenance 1 shall require that the State
Highway Department be efficiently
administered to the end that the peo-
ple may get the benefit of prompt-
ness in the construction of roads In-
stead of banns getting the benefit of
interest on the funds through delays
in construction Close and effective
co-operation must bo maiutalned with
the Bureau of Jioads of the United
States Department of Agriculture so
that the shameful dela-a in the let-
ting of contracts which characterize
the operations of the present State
Highway Department may bo
avoided Federal aid in paying the
cost of road const ruction must be
utilized to the (til lest degree

the state This has not always been

repeatedly that they would be given

would have made before he bought
a bank or a farm loan company I
will not accept as final and compute

5 Efficient Non-Political Ad-

Expenditures for education consti-
tute the greatest Item of tbo ex-
pense of government both state and
local Increaaing popular demand
for higher education has at last re-'
suited in a real need for all of Ibe
state educational Institutions which
have been established In Oklahoma
Their work must be co-ordinated and
developed Competition of state in-
stitutions with the public schools
must bs stopped Equal opportun-
ities forthe elementary education of
all children whether living In cities
towns or on farms must be provided
Efficiency of teachers — not their po-
litical activity — should be the deter-
mining condition of their employ-
ment I shall Insist that State educa-
tional institutions live within their
means as limited by appropriations
made by the legislature But the ap-
propriations made to these Institu-
tions by the legislature should be
sufficient if expended with economy
nnd good Judgment to provide ade-
quate facilities for all of them to
meet the demands of the people for
education
6 Stop Pardoning Criminals
for Political Graft
The Governor of Oklahoma may
make a unique and valuable contri-
bution to the worthy cause of law
enforcement by obeying all laws
himself I have always endeavored
to do this as a private citizen I
shall scrupulously strive to do so as
Governor I shall not nullify ths good
work of prosecuting attorneys and
the courts by pardoning or paroling
murderers bank robbers and others
convicted of violations of law except
upon recommendation of officers of
the court where convictions were ob-
tained! shall demand convincing
evidence publicly submitted that
Injustice has been done before grant-
ing any pardons or paroles
no
As Governor of Oklahoma my solo
obligation will be to the voters of nil
parties wbo put citizenship mbovo
partisanship and make my election :
possible I shall of course make mis-
takes But they will be my mistaken
and there will be no one in position
