SEE AIRPLANE
Citizens of Marietta and vi-
cinity were the recipients of a
real treat last Saturday after-
noon as they had the pleasure
of seeing an airplane not on-
ly seeing it but they had an
opportunity to inspect it at
close ranre
J E Frobisher of the Royal
Flying Squadron located at
Fort Worth who had been to
Fort Sill and was making the
return trip to Fort Worth stop-
ped here on his trip The ma-
chine landed in the held just
north of town and as he had
already flown over the town
and the citizens had spied the
machine he soon had a large
crowd after landing He had
run short of gasoline and was
compelled to stop for a fresh
supply He was on the ground
for an hour when he arose and
went on his way rejoicing He
landed again at Bo mar and
spent the night and some of
our citizens who didn’t get to
see the flying machine while it
was here went to Bomar the
next morning and saw it
LOVE COUNTY BOYS
ON TORPEDOED BOAT
Some of the horrors of war
were brought home to Love
County people last week when
it was learned that several
Love County boys were on the
Transport Tuscania which
was torpedoed while enroute
to France
The boys aboard the trans-
port were Noah Millikcn of
Enville Lon Harris of Mars-
den and C E Moore of Pile
They were all saved and the
first reliable information of
their’ safety was conveyed to
this place by a telegram from
Congressman C D Carter at
Washington to the effect that
all Love County boys on board
the vessel were safe Later
dispatches from the War De-
partment to the relatives of the
boys told of their safety
The two former boys were
among those who went from
this county in the first draft
and the latter volunteered

Lodge No 137 Knights of Py-

DEATH OF LITTLE- GIRL
IN COUNTY COURT
The home of Mr and Mrs
Ed Lipscomb of Loves Valley
was saddened Monday after-
noon by the death of Fay
their little four year old girl
The little child had been sick
only a few days and her death
was caused from scarlet fever
and pneumonia
Interment took place in
Lake View cemetery Tuesday

The many friends of the
family deeply sympathize with
them in this dark hour of sorrow
The examining trial of Her-
man Lee a negro who was
charged with assault with in-
tent to kill was held in County
Court Monday and resulted in
the defendant being held for
the next term of district court
His bond was fixed at $100000
which he failed to make and
he was placed in jail to await
trial
Lee assaulted his divorced
wife a few weeks ago and as a
result of the fray his wife was
seriously cut with a knife He
is a bad negro and is a famil-
iar figure in the courts of the
county
