REMAINS OF PREHISTORIC
ANIMAL FOUND
Last week a Mr Snyder who
lives on Tom Askew's place
about twelve miles south-east of
Marietta on Red river found the
bones of ao animal which from
&PIcarances lived and roamed
the woods in this part of the
country a thousand years ago
The skull of the animal was first
discovered by one of ‘the long
teeth protruding from the bunk
of the river Mr Snyder begun
to dig and the rest of the akull
andpther bones were unearthed
The skull has since been on dis-
play at the postofiice where
hundreds of people have viewed
it and np to date no one has been
found who can classify it Some
people say it was a specie of
bear some say it was a wild boar
bat most people who ee it do
not even venture a guess as to
what specie of extinct animal it
belonged
We can hardly attempt to des-
cribe it for we have never seen
any animal it resembles Its
jaws which are enormous! work
on hinges and it has three long
teeth in front above and three
long ones below which when the
animal’s mouth is shut fit be
tween each other in a deadly
grip The skull and bones will
be sent to some institute for
classification

T Build Roads by Subscription
1 '
An enthusiastic meeting of the
Good Roadit Association was
hold at the court house last Fri-
day afternoon and now it seem
thatthe business men and citi
sens of tho town have awakened
to tho necessity of procuring
better roads for Love county be-
fore the immense cotton crop
which is now assured begins to
move They have decided to
give up the plan of issuing bonds
to build rrtds and bridges at the
present time and have decided
to raise tho money by subscrip-
tion to get the roadsln shape be-
fore fail Committee were ap-
pointed to inspect the different
roads and report at a meeting to
be held tomorrow (Friday) after-
noon what work will be required
and estimate how much money
it will take to do the woik to put
the roads in proper shape The
following committees were ap-
pointed Chas Morris and J H

importance to our citizens and it
seems that the plan that is now
going to be worked out is the
only feasible one of getting us
roads I0 f3uve county in ' timq to
haul the cotton over this fall
It is the Intention of the Asso-
ciation to get the mayor of the
town to declare several days in
next month as holidays and every
one quit their other work upon
those days and put the time in
on the roads and to get the peo-
ple living on the different roads
to co-operate and assist in the
work The good ladies will also
be expected to play an import-
ant part in this good roads move
ment as they will prepare
lunches to be taken out where1
the crews are at work and a reg-
ular picnic will be indulged in at
lunch time
r
It should be an easy matter to
procure the funds to do this
work with as some of the busi-
ness institutions of the town pro-
pose to donate as much as $100
to this good'eause

row and be present

Exclude Small Accounts
Every one with an income needs the assis-
tance of a bank in order to administer it
People who begin to bank in a small way of-
