THE END IS IN SIGHT
SPECIAL MEETING OF-CONTEST-
ANTS CALLED FOR SATURDAY
Bad Weather Has Held Contestants
Back and they Have Been Un-
able to Accomplish Much
Up to Date
The end of the contest is near and
the contestants are hustling between
showers for subscriptions
In regard to the extension of the con-
test there has been some favorable
comments on this action and a few
have objected to same for thiB reason
we wish to have each and every con-
testant call at the office next Satur-
day as at this time we will definitely
decide about the extension of the con-
' test k S''
- -
Our reason for the extension of the
contest is a very fair and reasonable
one We want each and every con-
testant to have a fair and square deal
On account of the bad weather and
roads during the past few weeks of
- the contest a great many of the girls
hav hepn handicapped on account of
'being unable to-all and see
friends fot- subscriptions Each and
every contestant has friends who have
not been able to give them a subscrip-
V tion up to date on : account of the
weather conditions ' Several of the
contestants have friendSwho have
cars and other means of conveyance
to offer them but on account 'of the
weather they have been unable to take
advantage of the kind offers We have
not been called upSh to help the con-
testants in soliciting very much for
the same reasons as given above
s
The Times has $1000 worth df back
' subscriptions on the books today and
all of these are collectable if the
weather is good and the contest ex-
tended six days The extension is for
your benefit and if you will look at it
in the right light you will see where
' you will profit by it On the other hand
if the majority prefer to have the
contest end one week from Saturday
- night that is the way it will be carried
out - 1
All contestants will receive triple
votes this week regardless of whether
contest Is extended or not Next week
you will receive double votes regard-
less of the closing time The thing for
you to do is to get subscriptions get
long term subscriptions You can’t
gej too many One or two long term
subscriptions may win a $40000 piano
for you Don’t be satisfied with one df
the minor prizes
Don’t pay any attention to rumors
Some say they have this or that prize
won Let me tell you that you have
Just as good a chance of winning as
any other contestant and they may be
leading you on to tell how many sub-
scriptions you have to find out how
many they will have to secure to win
that handsome piano' Don't be dis-
couraged by tthese rumors but keep
everlastingly hustling 'for mprd votes
for votes win and not gossip
HOW THEY 8TAND
We Have New Leader Today'
This weeks count shows new leaders
in the race for the pianos Interest in
the contest is Increasing and the finish
promises to be close and exciting
wmh and every contestant should
boost their standiug next week Your
friends want to know how you are get-
ting along Don't disappoint them at
the close of the contest It depends
upon you and you alone the value of
the prize that you will receive at the
close of the contest

“Until After-the Primary

Monday morning Henry JLowrey
came over from Wann as deputy sher-

and his ear to the ground He was
quietly planning on raiding a couple
of the most prominent places in town
when he was asked by Sheriff Mayes
to come to the office He in company
with Deputy Sheriff Wade Kivett were
confronted with the proposal that it
would look better for them to resign
and stay off the force until after the
primary Nothing was left to do but
quit Lowrey who had Intended stay-
ing over night to pull off the raid

that he had as well go home wheih

Sherijf Mayes" denied having any
motive in view in asking tor the res-
ignation other than the best interests
of the force and sarcastically remarked
to the Times man “Why hasn’t he
pulled off raids in the past two
months?”
The fight for the nomination will
prove to be very interesting and
