balky bachelors into matrimony and
did it is delightfully told in "The
Microbe of Love” a home talent play
which will be presented as a benefit
for the Women’s Auxiliary to the
American Legion at the new city au-
ditorium Friday night
The production is a musical com-
edy with new song hits pleasantly
mingled with ridiculous situations
The comedy is declared to make the
audience go into one convulsion of
laughter after another while the mu-
sic is very enjoyable
Owing to the nature of the bene-
fit the local cast and the merit of the
play combined with popular prices
a big audience is anticipated

police in connection with the escape
of Mrs Clara Phillips convicted

The police declared however that
the women were not connected with
the Los Angeles case but that they
were being held for investigation
CHRISTIAN CHURCH
BOARD PLANNING TO
ERECT BUILDING
The board of trustees of the First
Christian church is expected to de-
termine at its session scheduled
for this evening whether a new
church edifice will be erected at this
time
A preliminary meeting of the
hoard was held Wednesday night but
no definite conclusion was readied
pending a conference with contrac-
tors today
In the event a new church is decid-
ed upon it is likely that the piesent
edifice will be razed and a large tab-
ernacle erected on the site for re-
vival services which are planned to
open early in the month of March

which have been much the samp
throughout the generations and
which need sane and sensible coope-
ration for their solution

riously Injured were taken to a hos-

ma A and M college at Stillwatei
will both deliver addresses at the
Tillman county Interscnolastic As-
soeiation convention to be held at the
City Auditorium Saturday December

sure a large attendance at both ses-
sions as Mr Bridges is scheduled to
j speak in the morning and Dr Burris
in the afternoon but the program Is
replete with other interesting num-

OIL FIELD WORKER
APPEALS TO COURT
AND GETS MAZUMA

Blalock a young man who was em-
ployed with an oil drilling outlit
near Grandfield in 1920 and 1921
who secured judgment in the district
court here late Wednesday In Ills
suit against the First National bank
at Grandfield
For about two years Blalock who
is thrifty and determined to get
ahead in the world opened an ac-
count in the bank named and made
regular deposits from his weekly pay
as a "roughneck” oil worker
In the latter part of December
1921 his bank book showed that lie
had saved about $700 but he was stir
prised on visiting the bank one day
to receive the information that lie
had a balance of only $100
Upon inquiry and investigation it
developed that a forged check for
SfiOO had been cashed by the bank
To secure restitution Blalock carried
the matter into the courts and won

the fate of Europe hangs upon
the forthcoming week-end con-
ference was inadequately re-
ported and diplomats are - just
beginning to discuss it
Considerable interest in this
connection is attached to the
attitude last year of the United
Ministers to Brussels and Berlin
CHARITY FUNDS
NOW ARE NEEDED
IN URGENT CASES
That the newly organized body
of city charity workers which will
coordinate the distribution of aid to
Frederick families will continue
to bear the name Good Fellows was
determined at a meeting called by
Mrs T B Slmmbns and held at
the office of the mayor this after-
noon Mrs Simmons’ action was
taken at the request of the chamber
of commerce and Lions club and pas-
tnrs of the various churches were
asked to send representatives to the
meeting where the Lions club and
chamber of commerce were also rep-
resented Mayor Rogers represented
Ilie city at the conference
Funds are needed at once for sev-
eral families who are in distressing
condition Mrs Simmons said Wed-
nesday and it is asked that those
desiring to make contributions to as'
sist in these cases and also to assls-:
in the distribution of Christmas cpm- -forts
leave their contributions at the
First National bank for credit to the
necount cf the treasurer of the Good
Fellows The funde will thus be
