OVERJASKELL
FORMER GOVERNOR CARRIES
ONLY NINE COUNTIES
IN THE STATE
MAJORITY WILL BE 35000
JUDGE J T DICKER80N DEFEATS
PARMETER FOR REPUBLICAN
NOMINATION
Oklahoma City — If the majority of
United States Senator Robert L
Owen over his opponent former Gov-
ernor Charles N Haskell continues
to climb in the eight counties yet to
be heard from it will exceed 40000
rotes when the complete count is
ROBERT L OWEN
Who defeated former Governor Hat-
kell for Democratic nomination for
Senator
made for the senator now is leading
by over 35000 votes Present indica-
tions are that Haskell will carry
eight or nine counties in the election
The vote incomplete from all ex-
Ce’pt a few of 68 counties gives Owen
72283 votes to 38732 for Haskell
The counties in which Haskell has
a majority over Owen are Ellis 29
votes Love 22 voteB Major 24
votes Sequoyah 288 votes and Wag-
oner 108 votes Haskell also carried
Cherokee county by 305 votes Re-
turns yet are to be received from
Beaver Delaware Dewey Harmon
Harper Mayes Okmulgee and Texas
counties and of these it appears prob-
able that Haskell will carry only
Mayes and Texas It is possible that
he will get Dewey and Beaver which
would give him nine counties at most
Wagoner county returns have been
received and Owen carried the city
of Wagoner by 51 votes but lost the
county to Haskell by 168 votes
Adair came in and shows a majority
of 300 for Owen and Delaware is ex-
pected to show a like count Pawnee
and Noble gave Owen 200 majorities
and Osage made it 400 Okfuskee
believed two weeks ago to be a Has-
kell stronghold went for Owen and
registered in favor of retaining the
present senator by 430 votes
Among the republicans few of the
winners outside of McGuire and Mor-
gan for congress are known It prac-
tically is assured that R T Daniel
of Tulsa has won the nomination in
the third district defeating J T Den-
ton and J A Dixon of Muskogee and
James Dennis Flynn of Sapulpa
Complete returns lacking one pre-
cinct from Ellis county show that
Haskell carried the county by 29
votes and he also still is ahead in
Sequoyah and Love counties Wood-
ward county with a precinct out
went for Owen by 3 votes and Jeffer-
son swung over Thursday giving
Owen a majority of 301
Judge J T Dickerson of Edmond
now is assured the nomination on the
republican ticket for senator He Is
leading in nearly all the counties
heard from Allen on the congressman-at-large
ticket appears certain of
nomination because his name came
first on the ticket and Brownlee of
Kingfisher is certain to be one of his
running mates The other is unde-
cided with Major Hackett ot McAles-
ter and A W Maxwell of Guthrie the
favorites
Official complete returns from Mus-
kogee county show that Owen was
given a vote of 2244 while Haskell
polled 2048 giving the senator a ma-
jority of 196 votes In his home county
Pittsburg county went for the senator
by 257 votes and Pottawatomie coun-
ty by 1562 votes '
Late returns from tbe eastern por-
tion of the state assure that Judge
John B Turner of Vinlta is renomi-
nated in the race against N B
Maxey of Muskogee Muskogee coun-
ty gave Maxey a good majority but
Pittsburg Sequoyah Craig and oth-
ers overcame this and gave the jus-
tice a majority which now cannot be
overcome
Candldatee Tie

sulting in a tie in Tuesday's primar-

RETURNS FROM OKLAHOMA CO
Mixsd Condition in Regard to Presi-
dential Electors
Oklahoma City— -That i K Pope
won the nomination for county attorney
by 188 votes over James S Twyford
his nearest competitor was shown by
tbe official returns compiled Satur-
day by tbe county election hoard
Tbis had been one of tbe closest races
of any for county office although it
had been conceded for several days
that Pope was in the lead The offi-
cial count gives him 1087 to 899 for
Twyford and 823 for Fred E Suits
who came in third
Tbe final checking of the county
returns showed that James S Ross
bad a margin for congress in the sec-
ond district over Judge J‘ J Carney
Tbe first figures of the election board
Bhowed 1702 for Carney and 1674
for Ross It was later discovered that
a mistake of ninety votes had been
made In the Ross column one pre-
cinct which gave him 100 votes hav-
ing been put down as ten This
boosted his total to 1764 or slty-two
more than Carney The vote over the
district is very close and will prob-
ably take the official returns from ail
of the counties to decide Scatter-
ing reports however indicate that
Ross will be the candidate
The situation as regards Republic-
an presidential electors is very much
mixed It was reported at the Pro-
gressive state convention here that
eight of the Republican electors would
vote for Roosevelt if elected but even
the Roosevelt leaders here did not
know which ones they wore and had
to go it blind in marking their bal-
lots Tbe state election board had
decided that only fire were to be
chosen at large and five by districts
