A VERSE FROM THE BIBLE
Peace I leave with you my
peace I give unto you: not as the
world giveth give I unto you
Let not your heart be troubled
neither let it be afraid— John 14
A Tulsa motorist was extreme-
ly glad a highway patrolman
stopped him and warned him to
get a new headlight because it
served as an iron-clad alibi in a
murder investigation The driv-
er when checked by the police
was able to show that the High-
way Patrolman stopped him at
exactly the time a woman was
struck and killed by a hit-and
run motorist but many miles
from the scene
The Low Down From
Hickory Grove
Old Nero fiddled around and
let his town burn down— and
got his name in our history
books But the Romans paid
for Nero's fiddlin' Nero had
the fun and the Romans paid
the bill I guess it was in Rome
where the old slogan got started
about if you dance and cavort
you got to pay the fiddler
But anyway we are not so
many jumps behind the Romans
We been leavin' the running of
everything to our Boys down
there on the luxuriant Potomac
And brother we sure are gonna
get some fiddlin' bill
But I see faint signs of com-
ing out of our coma When the
bosses down in Wash say to the
Boys there “here you fellers
you better all go on home”—
and the fellers don't go that is
news That is grounds for op-
timism '
But even if Washington was
to burn down like Rome we
would keepon running I reckon
My neighbor Henry he says
“Jo we would be better off if
half the town did burn down"
Henry's quite a card
Yours with the low down
JO SERRA
“My wife has a great scheme to
save coal”
“What is it?’’
“Spend the winter in a warm climate”
A SUGGESTION
Miss Prim — Children nowadays do
not pay the proper amount of
respect to age
Miss Pert — And I suppose that
annoys you a great deal
JUST HIS OPINION
She — Can you guess what I want
most for my birthday T
He— That’s easy It’s probably
me
DID ALL THE WORK HIMSELF
Lady — And how many working
days do you usually find in the year?
Workman — None lady Ain’t
never found a day wot worked yet
