Rain Makes Corn Booze Trouble
A inixup in Helena some time
Sunday night of a hunch of young
bloods left some of them pretty
well bunged up It is presumed
that a too liberal indulgence in the
“stuff” was at the bottom of it
Deputy Sheriff Hughey came
down from Cherokee the day after
and looked them over It was not
learned what action Vas taken ex-
cept that the participants were
fined in the Helena justice court
for being drunk and disorderly It
is thot that a “still” might be at
the bottom of the trouble How-
ever this is only a conjecture and
may be far from the truth

The McPherson Meet-
ings at Wichita
I 1
Newspapers generally are will-
ing to be fair on any question und 1
to give due credit where credit is’
due Of course this is not saying
that all other utterances ot a pub-
lic nature are not aiming at this
in full by whomsoever made hut
the newspaper can speak for its-
self and usually does
Whether the people who are ‘in
business and dealing on the pres-
ent basis every dav with their fel-
low nn n can he Christians in lhe
true sense like Christ the Star is
not able to say hut it is a matter
of record that He threw the mon-
ey changers out of the temple and
scattered their coin
Just who is eligible to he healed
in both body and spirit is presum-
ed to depend a great deal on the
state of mind of the candidate
After the close of the McPherson
meetings in Wichita many stories
have gained credence the same as
after the clsse of the Nagel meet-
ings here
Mr and Mrs F L Logston for-
mer pastor of the M E church!
at tins place and where the Nagel
meetings were held became very
much interested in the healing
services as conducted by Nagel
and when the McPherson meeting
started in Wichita they journeyed
there to renew their faith in the
work and to he of what assistance
they could They returned recent-
ly with a most amazing account
of the work done there by some
higher power and consequently a
more divine power than that pos-
sessed by mere man The writer
does not consider that an affidavit
sworn to and acknowledged before
an officer of the law a thing nec-
essary to bolster up the word of
the Logstons in this matter there-
fore their accounts of what they
witnessed will pass muster here
They were there for ' two weeks
worked in the meetings and wit-
nessed at first hand the work of
which they tell
The fifty tribes of gypsies with
an average membership of 25 to
the tribe journeyed there to have
their sick healed and to receive
the blessing of understanding
The little girl seven years old
who had been blind from birth
was instantly healed
The lady who was deaf and
dumb heard and spoke for the first
time
Rain Spoils Children’s Outing
There was considerable of a
sprinkle this morning which inter-
fered to some extent with plans of
Helena people for that day The
cars which had been engaged to
take the West Oklahoma Home
children to Enid were not used
They are expecting to make the
trip tomorrow if the weather is
favorable Tills is the annual ex-
cursion for the children from the
“home” and the look forward to it
with much pleasurable anticipa-
tion There are about seventy of
them and the people of Enid take
particular pains to see that they
have a good time and come back
to the home with pleasant memo-
ries of the outing
Who’s the Meanest
Person in Helena?
Will be the subject at the Bap-
tist church next Sunday night
which question will be answered
by calling said persons name and
I promise you now that there will
be ?ome startling revelations dis-
closed concerning the deeds of
some of the citizens of Helena
Let all remember the special
services next Sunday morning and
afternoon with dinner served at
the gym My earnest request is
that every member will be present
at those services
B Y P U and Sunbeam band
at 7:30 and preaching at 8:30
To the above a cordial invitation
is extended to all who do not
worship elsewhere
S L Bulkeley pastor
Miss Callie Radford a working
girl and her mother’s only support

cured of stammering She will en-
ter Mrs McPherson’s preparatory
school for evangelists in spite of
the offer of her employer to raise
her wages to forty dollars a week
Miss Edna Johnson came from
Carthage Mo a cripple and went
away healed leaving her crutches
behind
These and many other cases
came under the direct notice of
the Logston’s and they have rec-
ord of more equally astonishing to
thp unbeliever
People from 26 states Alaska
