I havq: been solicted by a num-
ber of voters of this County to
become a candidate for the Nom-
ination for the Legislature at the
next Primary and -while I have
the indorsements r of 'several of
the State Officials and prominent
democratic leaders and am proud
of my record in the last legisla-
ture I feel that in justice to my
self I can not afford to make an-
other financial sacrifice Thank-
ing my friends for past support
I wish to say that I will not be a
' candidate for the legislature this
year

team' will play Bacone University
Friday March 24th - This will

season

our High' School in "the annual
track 'and field meet and oratori-
cal and musical contest -'which
will bp held at Miami Oklahoma

' The pupils of - the ’grades are
intensely Interested ' in' - their
preparation for the local spelling
contest? Which is to be held soon
The -candy sale - given- by the
North School last Saturday was
well attended The teachers will
not givea candy sale next Satur-
day They hope however with
the aid of the Mothers’ Club to
be able to purchase' a Victrola
soon
Hie program given by the
High School'-Friday afternoon
(Stl Patrick’s Day) was "enjoyed
by all The Glee Clubs rendered
pleasing numbers and Mrs
Mark Evans favored the school
with a beautiful solo just suited
to the occasion

Allegro Music Club
The Allegro Music Club held
their regular meeting at the
studio of Miss Barnwell last Fri-
da 'evening renderings delight-
ful program of music! to a num-
ber of guests mainly the parents
of the pupils who were well
pleased at' the progress it was
plain they were making They
enjoy a great privilege in taking
music of Miss Barnwell for she
is one of the best teachers in the
state Several pupils were pro-
moted to a higher grade at this
meeting
Surprise Parties
Mrs A Davis planned a clever
surprise for her son Glen Mon-
day evening by inviting about
twenty of his young friends in to
spend the evening to help him
celebrate his 21st birthday The
time was made merry with
games and contests of various
kinds and all in attendance had a
jolly" time Delicious--- refresh-
ments were served and at a time-
ly hour the guests ' departed

About thirty young people of
Wagoner formed a hay ride party
last Friday evening and drove to
the home of Misses Lizzie and
Minnie Davis three miles east of
town to give these worthy young
ladies a surprise' However they
got an inkling earlier in' the day
of ’ the ’ pleasant ' contemplated
affair and met them with cordial
welcome on ’ their "arrival ahd
served them with refreshments
before their departure for home
The time passed quickly with
games and music and all had a
delightful time Those preseat

will be given under the direction

er Chas H Penn Jr weight
eleven pounds who arrived at
the home of his proud parents
early Friday morning and an-
nounced that he come to cele-
brate St Patrick’s Day So fine
a young man is he that Charlie
made him a new member of the
firm of the Penn Grocery Co at
once and he will probably be de-
livering groceries at your door in
a few days
Miss Willie Norvell was a visi-
tor in Muskogee Saturday and
Sunday' ‘ '

turned’' Saturday from -their
ranch at Donna'1 Texas' where
they have been since early win-
ter They have been' right on
the Mexican border and the Dr
says that everyone there expects
that our country- will be plunged!

Dairy met with hard luck Friday 1
-morning on his delivery on north
State street The team became
frightened and started to run
upsetting the wagon and throw-
ing milk bottles - around prom-
iscuously breaking a number of
them and wasting the milk and
cream No further damage was
done
Mrs Hettie Betts who is ma-
tron in the State Orphans Home
at Pryor would appreciate hav-
ing pictures sent to the home
suitable for adorning the walls of
the dining room and dormitory
She would prefer pictures of a
historical nature such as por-
traits of great and famous men
and would be glad to get them
framed or unframed No doubt
many people in Wagoner have
picturesl they could well spare
and here is a worthy place to put
them
