Newspapers
It might be possible that we are
too modest in tbe matter of person-
al affairs but we have - always
been averse to making a show of
our personal business in the paper
thinking that perhaps our readers
might take it that we were boast-
ful not that we have anything to
boast of particularly but a secret
pride is best as it is a constant
spur and spurs are ueeded often
in our business Boastful pride
sometimes leads to downfall and
we have tried to avoid that more
than anything else We have two
factors to thank for what measnre
of success we have attained One
the greater one the ' help and
plaudits of our friends The oth-
er lesser but none tbe less potent
the opposition of our enemies if
we have any We recently pur-
chased a Ford car to use in our
business The help of our friends
made this possible and we expect
to use it and are using it to boost
yonr business and onr business
We started a new paper at Goltry
fifteen miles north-east of Ring-
wood and seven ' miles 'east of
Helena last July and have placed
it in your service Our next move
wae tbe purchase of the Helena
Star thirteen miles north of Ring-
wood and have added it to the
service already established This
has all been made possible by our
friends and through our own ‘ef-
forts The Qoltry Leader was es-
tablished July 3rd (914 and the
purchase of the Helena Star was
made January i8tb 1915 The
Ringwood Leader is published in
its own office at Ringwood and
the Goltry and Helena papers in
the Helena office John Watkins
is local editor of the Ringwood
Leader Mrs F E Welker is local
editor of tbe Goltry ’ Leader and
W H Watkins and sons Lloyd
and Vernon is editor and publish-
ers of the Helena Star and Goltry
Leader' On our purchase of the
Helena Star we received many
nice complimentary notices from
brother publishers also a great
many verbal compliments and
some few nice letters from those
who were interested in our welfare
aud that of the country we are
operating iu Our wife and some
ol our loyal friends think we
should publish them but we
haven’t room for but a few and
here they are:
