valuable new citizens in the per-
sons of Mr and Mrs J W
Skinner of St Louis who have
come to make Wagoner their
permanent home and have al-
ready gone to housekeeping on
South State street in the resi-
dence long occupied by Dr
Shinn Mr Skinner is the own-
er of the Main Mercantile build-
ing and we extend a warm wel-
come to him and his good wife as
they come among us to make
their home

A good program was rendered
at the High Sbhool auditorium
by the pupils and which was at-
tended by many patrons The
school as we understand closed
Wednesday evening to open
again on Wednesday of the fol-
lowing week
Mrs Thelma Fain Swepson of
Point Texas is in the city to
spend the holidays at the homes
of her aunts Mrs J H Ford and
Mrs Cochran This is her first
visit to Wagoner since her marri-
age and her many friends rejoice
to see her again
The revival meetings at the
Baptist church closed Sunday
evening and the evangelist Rev
Mertins delivered a free lecture
at the court house Monday even-
ing that was well attended and
greatly enjoyed The meeting
was productive of much good
and was well attended all through
the series despite the unfavora-
ble weather and the buy rush of
Christmas time Rev and Mrs
Mertins and children returned
to their home in Kansas City

Arthur Bick of St Louis was
in town a few days this week
looking after business interests
and visiting his brother John
Bick the capable young mana-
ger of the Palace Drug Store
Miss Lena Whetstine is hav-
ing a generous share of good
luck in the holiday prizes offered
about town a week ago Saturday
she drew a beautiful gold watch
at P J Martin’s jewelry store
and last Saturday a pretty gold
bracelet at Mr Mann’s jewelry
store She has a good position
In the Van Leeuwen auto contest
and is almost sure to get a valu-
able prize there
“The Angelic Choir” rendered
by the ladies’ and men’s quartet
of the Presbyterian church at
the vespej- service last Sunday5
evening was very beautiful in-
deed and was very largely at-
tended considering the extreme-
ly disagreeable weather The
personnel of the ladies quartette
consists of Mrs J B Ellington
1st soprano Mrs H C Cunning-
ham 2nd soprano Mrs J S
Dickey 1st alto and Mrs Lytle
Johnson 2nd alto the gentle-
men’s quartette H E Cunning-
ham 1st tenor Roy Cunningham
2nd tenor E H Trollinger 1st
bass F W Wiles 2nd bass All
these voices are very excellent
ones and the solos quartettes
and chourses were all very beau-
tiful Mrs H B McCollum ac-
companied all the parts on the
piano and a large measure of
the success is due to her and Mr
Cunningham’s efforts as directors

had been called a few days be-
fore on account of the serious ill-
ness of his mother and whom he
left still very critically ill

Mrs Percy White was taken
to a hospital at Muskogee last
Thursday where she underwent
a very serious operation that left
her in a very critical condition
Her many friends sincerely hope
that she will pass the critical
point safely and soon be restored
to good health
Mrs Tillie Tucker Green of
Pontiac Illinois arrived Tues-
day to make a visit with her par-
ents Mr and Mrs W E Tuck-
er She formerly lived here and
has many Wagoner friends who
are glad to see her She was
accompanied by an uncle Mr
Bentley also of Pontiac
Mr Hiram Underwood of
Oscaloosa Kansas is a guest this
week at the home of his grand-
daughter Mrs J A Goddard
north of town In years Mr
Underwood would be called an
old man but not so in spirit for
he enjoys good health and is get-
ting much pleasure out of this
first visit to Oklahoma
Kent Ruble and Owen Watts
are home from Ann Arbor Mich-
igan where they are students in
the university for the Christmas
holidays Miss Ethel Hayes who
is also a student there will not
spend the holiday season at home
but will visit relatives at Wash-
ington D C having already ac-
companied a cousin who is also
a student at Ann Arbor to that
city
