OPEN LETTER
' TO PEOPLE
Ilammon Okla — At a meet-
ing ot the Directors of the Farm-
ers National bank held August
8 1014 the following address to
the people was adopted and
ordered published :
To the People of Roger Mills'
Gmnty
On August 5 11)14 The Farm-
ers National Bank represented
by two of its directors met the
Board of County Commissioners
and made application for the
third time to be made a County-
depository' The application was
indignantly refused The ma-
jority members of the board
bitterly resent our insistance in
this matter Mr Vosburgofthe
board did all that be could to
secure favorable action on our
application and in the name
of the people of this district we
hereby exprsss our appreciation
of his work
On July 31 1914 the funds in
the hands of the county treasur-
erof Roger Mills County were
distributed as follows
Cheyenne State Bank $18089 -
So
First State Bank Ciawford
$10000 00 I'
First State Bank Strong City
$1400000 ' '
Oklahoma State Bank Ilam-
mon $12000 00
We ask you to note that these
are ell the banks in the county
except ourselves Kindly re-
member that The Farmers -National
Bank is capitalized own-
ed and operated by the people
It is'the only bank of this kind
ini the county Why then should
the people's representatives re-
fuse to place a just portion of
the people’s money in the pro
ple’s bank? This is the great and
important question for your con-
sideration -
The Farmers NationaVank is
asking ouly for itsjusE'and dne
proportion of tl county money
To make this possible the board
must appoint this bank a county
depository The burden of proof
is on the majority members to
show why this is not done The
people of Roger Mills county are
asked to consider this proposi
tion from the standpoint of what
is right We are not doubtful
as to what their decision ’will be
The words of the old prophet
are especially appropriate at this
time : “If Jehovah be God fear
Him but if Baal be God then
fear him” Choose ye therefore
whom ye will serve” (
Very truly yours
