We are authorized to announce the name of
W K Long aa a candidate for the democratic
nomination of Representative to tbe State Leg:-
islature from Wagoner county subject to the
August primary
It is not known yet who will
manage the republican forces in
Wagoner county in the coming
campaign Jack Graves makes
a noise that sounds a little like a
manager but some hpw nr other
we can’t warm up to Jack as! a
leader Of course he may have
improved greatly but it will be
remembered that two years ago
he didn't know enough to trail a
mess wagon across the county
Fot District Judge

DON McCLURR
School is out and the energetic
boy is now abroad in the land
making strenuous efforts to ex-
change a quarter's worth of woi k
for a dollar’s worth of pay -
!Dohn Fields is devoting the
rbest part of his life to the better-
ment of agriculture and farm life
and we believe he will be remem-
' bered when the voters of Oklaho-
ma go to the polls to choose their
governor
During the campaign no one
could induce Mayor Lamb to say
what his platform was but we
have decided that it was “dog”
just plain old cur dog and if so
he is making good for more than
200 worthless yelpers have been
putoutof the way during the
past month and the good work of
the dog catcher still goes on
D E Harpole has been ap-
pointed clerk of the county elect-
ion board to succeed Atty F A
Thomas who resigned to run for
county judge Personally we
like Mr HarpoJe very much but
from a political standpoint we
view his appointment with alarm
What does he know about steal-
ing an election? Why if a re-
publican should happen to get
the most votes he would proba-
bly just go ahead and issue him
a certificate of election without
consulting anybody It’s too late
to kick now but the democracy
of Wagoner county had plenty of
material to fill this important
office without taking any chanc-
es It now looks like the whole
burden would fall on the should-
ers of the gentleman in precinct

smaller prizes When Mr Van
Leeuwen came in with his first
page advertisement which ap-
pears in this paper we saw in it
an opportunity to add a few hun
dred new subscribers to our al-
ready fine list so ask him if he
would permit his contestants to
i solicit subscription for the Rec-
ord we to pay them a cash com-
mission for their work To th s
Mr Van Leeuwen consented
We have no more interest in tl e
contest than Mr Van Leeuwen
has n the affairs of the Record
The editors of the state who at-
tended the Ardmore meeting are
saddened by the sudden death of
the brilliant jolly good natured
felldw Ed Lucas of Tishomingo
Mr Lucas was not only an editor
but also a lawyer of ability
Many saw him for the last time
as he climbed down off the hay
rack in the Ringling wagon yard
on Sunday May 10th after he
had made a witty talk but it was
our pleasure to say goodbye to
him on Monday morning just as
he was boarding a Rock Island
train for his home We extend
sympathy to the bereaved Mrs
Lucas and the children
We this week take pleasure in
announcing the name of Don Mc-
Clure as a democratic candidate
for county commissioner for this
the Second District subject to
t ie August primary There may
be just as good men in Wagoner
county as Don but none better
Mr McClure came here with his
family from Miami County Kan-
sas nine years ago and opened
up the first farm on the broad
prairie surrounding Neodesha
which he has developed until it is
today one of the best cultivated
and best improved farms in that
part of the county If nominat-
ed and elected Mr McClure
promises to give the affairs of
Wagoner county the same care-
ful attention that he now gives to
his own and should he do so the
people would have no room for
complaint
