Every family should plant a
patch of potatoes just as soon as
- it rains The second crop us-
ually makes a good yield and will
j keep until late in the winter
If any one is thinking of chnng-
' mg lawyers now would be a good
' time to do it as 120 new ones
’ were admitted to practice in the
courts of Oklahoma last week
They ought to be able to ball up
a lot ol legal business
I The Fort Worth University of

before making that arrangement
we selected the man Therefore
gentlemen we present for your
consideration tho lion Hank
Robins of the McAlcster News-
Capitol Now Hank is so accus-
tomed to opposing us that we
look for him to flare up when he
reads this but that don't matter
for we’ll still be for him as we
consider him the biggest and
brainiest man in all Oklahoma
newspaperdom
j" Uncle Sam is getting ready to
make another botch of it
jxlown here in Oklahoma by threat -!
ening to investigate the sale of
ands of Indian and Freedmen
minors The lands are gone and
! the money is spent and as usual
(Jncle Sam s hired hands are on
i a cold trial
Some towns In Oklahoma that
desire new depots and other im-
provements from the railroads
have no more judgement than to
fly to the State Corporation Com-
mission when they want a new
depot or other improvements to
which they are justly entitled
Our observation has been that
the railroads of Oklahoma pay
about as much attention to the
Corporation Commission as a
Bengal tiger would pay to a tom
cat
The dispatches Tuesday read:
“Rain casts gloom over all Eng-
ang on Coronation day” Wish
we could pull off a stunt that
1 would cast a “gloom” over all
jthe plains of our great republic

With the hay crop almost a to-
jjtal failure every good farmer
twill insure feed for liis stock

ilng his wheat and oats stubble

Tow peas or katir corn There
s lots of live stock in Wagoner
pounty and feed must be raised
so put them through the winter
There are a few — very few ed-
itors who manage their business
affairs like real business men and
as a result can take a summer va-
cation like other ix’ople A tine
example of this thrifty class of
news distributors is found in tlio
editor of the Manitou (Ok) Field
Glass who las® week made this
announcement to liis readers:
1 The Field-Glass will take a va-
cation for about three months
during which time no paper will
be issued We want a rest—
that’s all All subscribers will
be credited with the time the pa-
per is not Issued aud each sub-
scriber will be marked up accord-
ingly We expect co resumepub-

We have been reading up some
Let us cheer up Tis true we
will not be permitted Uock our
molars into big fat roasting ears
and even our vision of cucumbers
cold slaw pickled beets and
sliced tomatoes for this summer
has passed on but we are still
assured the staff of life as Uncle
Sam announces that we will have
705000000 bushels of wheat or
70 million bushels more than
last year So its please pass the
biscuits
It is kind of pitiful to read the
Chickasha Journal and u few
other republican papers whose
editors have tho misfortune to
be weighted down with a post-
office the commission for which
gives them the nightmare every
time they would pen a little old
dinky editorial The Journal
takes us to task because we even
dared to hint that some other re-
publican might make stronger
candidate for presidedt in 1912
than Mr Taft The Record will
be found loyally supporting the
nomineelwliether he be Taft or
Teddy LaFolette or Cummins
Sunny Jim Sherman or Victor
Murdock Its jierfectly fit and
proper for you as iiostmaster
to be for Mr Taft but don’t tell
us fellows who -are hustling
around trying to make ends meet
and showing signs of visible
means of support without the aid
of a postolhee where to head in
at We are glad to see the news-
paper boys get postottic-es as
they so richly deserve but they
should not become so foxy as our
good friend of the Journal lias
- Judge Degraffcnreid will add
another thousand dollars or so
to our already heavy county ex-

July 3rd Now this is all fool-
ishness and a flagrant waste of
the people's money We have a
sheriff with a large force of dep-
uties scattered over the county
drawing a thousand dollars or
more each ier year toesides all
these every A H T A lodge
has or can have a deputy sheriff

Our good friend Tom Latta of
the Tulsa World attempts to hold
State Chairman Jim Harris re-
sponsible for what appears in the
editorial columns of the Record
Nqw for the benefit of the World
we will say that Mr' Harris has
nothing whatever to do with the
dope that appears in the Record
To ou r ce rtai n knowledge he has
never asked us to print or not to
print a single line and so far as
we know he may not approve
of one out of ten of our editorials
in fact tlieie are'about half of
them that we do not approve of
ourself after we see them in
print But one thing we know
and Mr Harris knows We
have supported him loyally in his
untiring efforts to build up the
republican party in the state of
Oklahoma What have you- done
Tom? Politically Tom yon are
ah Ishmaelrte but having in your
early life been a republican and
being a crackerjack to turn out
dope that sounds well you are in
a position to give the republican
party of Oklahoma many a jolt
below the belt When the re-
publican state ticket was nomin-
ated last fall we put our should-
er to the wheel and did all in our
power for its success What
did you do Tom? When the re-
publicans of Wagoner county
nominated a ticket we put on our
whole armour and went forth to
battle as best we could What
the ‘ell did you do for the repub-
lican ticket of Tulsa county dear
Tom? For sixteen consecutive
months wc gave to State Chair-
man Harris out of our meager
earning cash to assist in run-
ning the campaign How much
did you give Tom?
