Wagoner Citizen Honored
The South Western Lumber-
men’s Convention which closed
its Annual session in Kansas
City last week honored our
fellow townsman A F ' Parkin-
son by electing him Vice-President
of the Association and their
honor was extended to Mr Par-
kinson though he was absent
This association is composed of
the lumber dealers of Kansas
Missouri Oklahoma and Arkan-
sas It is an unwritten law of
this august body that its officers
bo elected by promotion and Mr
Parkinson will soon stand at the
head of this great organization
When this honor is conferred on
him even as great a one will be
conferred on the association for
a more thoroughly honorable
capable member could not be
found within its ramrs
New Salary Bill
If a bill pending in the legisla-
ture becomes a law the officers
of Wagoner county will draw sal-
aries approximately as follows:
Sheriff County Judge Treasur-
er Attorney $2250 Clerk of
District Court County Clerk and
Register of Deeds $1700 each
Successful Meeting
Fermers Institute
The Wagoner County Farm-
ers’ Institute held an inte rest-
ing meeting in the Commercial
Club rooms in this city last Fri-
day There was a good atten-
dance and the meeting was full
of interest to farmers from be-
ginning to end Two state lect-
urers were present and delivered
valuable and practical addresses
on the raising of cotton and corn
two vital subjects in this section
of country to the farmer
At the close of the session L
A Zellner of Adams Creek town-
ship was unanimously chosen
president and A J W Ahrnes
of Wagoner was reelected secre-
tary Better choices could not
have been made for Mr Zellner
is well known as one of our most
enterprising and progressive
farmers and Mr Ahrnes be-
cause of his special fitness was
appointed by the State Board of
Agriculture as' superintendent
of the Wagoner county demon-
stration farm Hon A C Cobb
of the State Board of Agriculture
was present and gave helpful
sugestions
These meetings mean much to
the farmers and we hope they
will become more and more at-
tended Agriculture is a scien-
tific study and perhaps no other
occupation would yield as great a
profit by close thought and study
as that of farming

The choir with a few friends--all
numbeiing about twenty-five
were seated at the table to be
served to a delicious two course
luncheon hymn books each be-
ling opened at different hymns
were used for place cards When
all were seated the hostesses re-
quested that each sing the first
verse of the hymn designated in
the open book through which
was done and the medley effect
was such that one would have
hardly recognized the usual
sweet melodious voices compos-
ing this choir but entertainment
was the desired end and it afford-
ed that in full measure As the
luncheon progressed toasts were
given by all present on enter-
taining subjects and the evening
was spent in thoroughly jovial
and jolly manner
