Last week the Record-Herald er-
red In giving the new dates of the
Ottawa county fair Instead of oc-
curing on Oct 3 and 4 the dates
should have been Oct 13 and 14

Mr Crum was admitted to practice
In this state at the same time Walter
Beck became an attorney and passed
the examination in the same class
Dan Meyers the live wire Ylnlta
theatrical manager has leased the
Miami opera house ' of Mr Schmuck-
cr Mr Myers has a chain of the-
atres leased and will put Miami on
the circuit with his other holdings
at all times furnishing our people
with high class companies The
Standard at Vlnlta and the Miami
play house becomes two links in an
aggregation of five under his direct
management
While the Jury was rendering the
verdict finding the negro porter guil-
ty of selling liquor Wednesday after-
noon the accused was making his
getaway 'to the north limits of the
town having gone through a window
In the court house at the end of the
lobby just off the county court room
The sheriff and posse followed but
lost olm in the corn field where he
evaded capture and darkness coming
on shortly after he probably made
good Me escape to Missouri or some
other seaport
At their meeting Wednesday of
this week the county commissioners
made a cut of ten per cent in the
salaries of all -clerks In the employ
of the various officers of Ottawa Co
except the deputy district clerk who
Is cut to $300 for the present flsclal
year One Jail guard Is cut off also
the clerk of the ' county court at
Afton comes under the order of the
10 per cent cut A11 the commission-
ers concurred In the final vote
The Miami Commercial Club set
In motion Tuesday at 2:00 o’clock
pm a movement for bridges In Ot-
tawa county The county commission
ers held an audience In the district
court room with our citizens many
being present from across the river
and from other portions of the coun-
ty Later a special session or smok-
er of the club was held at the club
rooms at night at which the commiss-
ioners were guests The matter of
bridges was discussed pro and con f
County court postponed from July
was convened in Its new quarters in
the county court house Tuesday

the following proceedings were had:

presented and same 'was examined
and approved
The monthly report of Artie Earles
was this day presented and same
was examined and found to be cor-
rect and was approved
The monthly report of D C De-
Vllllers having been filed same was
presented to the Board and was ex-
amined and found correct and Ap-
proved The monthly report of Cal B Gar-
man having been filed same was ex-
amined and found to becorrect and
approved
In the matter of the road petition
of Council house Township asking for
road upon and along the following
lines to wit
Beglning at the township line be-
tween townships 26 and 27 thence
north one-fourth mile on section line
between sections 35 and 36 thence
west 400 feet thence north one-fourth
mile thence east to section line run-
ning north and south this road Is
asked for by the patrons of school
district No 36 as this road 1b badly
needed for an Inlet and outlet to
and from our school house
Petition was approved subject to
the report of County Commissioners
after viewing said road 1
In the matter of the road petit-
ions of Wade Hubbard same having
been filed with the board same was
examined and petitions were refer-
red to the Township Board of Perla
red to the Township Board of
Peoria Township for their action
In the matter of the road petition
of Mrs M Braswell asking for a
road upon and along the following
lines to-wit:
Beginning al the 1-2 mile rock be-
tween sections 14 and 15 thence run-
ning east 3-4 of one mile to Neosho
river for the reason that the land
has no outlet to any sectloif ’ Tine
Petition was approved subject to
the report of County Commlssnloners
after viewing said road
In the matter of the official bond
of E R Hill as constable of Justice
district No 10 same being In the
opinion of the board in conformity
to Ijaw and the sureties thereon be-
ing deemed good and sufficient same
Is hereby approved and It Is so order-
ed In hte matter of the official bond
of Sam Dunlphln as constable of
Justice District No 6 same being
In the ’opinion of the Board In con-
formity to law and the sureties there-
on being deemed good and sufficient
same Is hereby approved

that the following resolutions be
adopted' to-wlt:
Be it resolved by the Board of
County Commissioners of Ottawa
County Okla that the sum of $5000
or so much thereof as may be neces-
sary to defray the expense of the
Sheriff and two prisoners to Granite
Okla be and the same Is hereby ap-
propriated out of the contingent fund
of said county and the county clerk
Is hereby directed to Issue a warrant
upon said fund to the Sheriff upon
his filing with the clerk an Itemized
verified statement of the expense of
said trip
Motion was made by J P
Thompson that the chairs contracted
for from Campbell Bros of Fair-
land same having arrived and been
set up by Campbell Bros be accept-
ed MoUon seconded by W I Bing-
ham those voting Aye all No none
motion carried and the chairs accept-
ed J P Thompson being called to
the Chair motion was mads by Joe
