Mr Harry A Hubbard was iu
Friday to pay up his subscription
to this paper and we had la very
pleasant visit with him When Mr
Hubbard paid Tip last year we de-
cided that that dollar which paid
ilm to February 1 1916 was the
last be should pay ns on subscrip-
tion If a man who is blind is suf-
ficiently interested in the Visitor
to want it land then frequently he
obliged to carry it a half a mile to
have it read to him we are willing
to give him a life subscription
Mr Hubbard takes three papers:
The Visitor Wichita Beacon and
the Appeal to Reason A rather
varied assortment but not danger-
ous as the good Influences of the
first two should offset the last one
In addition he gels many books for

as a book is read it is returned to
the school to be sent to someone
else Nowadays there are two kinds
of systems used the old style of
raised letters and the later inven-
tion of boles punched In the paper
Mrs Hubbard who has been blind
all her life cannot read the hole
system as it was Invented since she
left sciool buit she Is adept at the
raised letter system and reads many
standard works having Just fin-
ished the Marble Fapn by Haw-
thorne Tbs location of the holes from
one to six both above and below
a line designate the letter or char-
acter Mr Hubbard says it is
faster reading than the raised letter
system but that the holes have a
tendency to cut one's fingers and
that as soon las the skin on the
fingers become the least bit torn
or calloused reading is finished for
that day and that a half a day or
so of steady reading by the hole
system will put the Ungers in that
condition
HAVE TRAVELED MUCH
Mr and Mrs Hubbard have trav-
eled lall over the United States giv-
ing musical concerts but have
been at home for the past three
years on their farm west of town
Their traveling days are probably
over While they both enjoy being
out on the road and sometimes feel
that taey will go again yet they
are both getting along in yean and
as they are comfortably fixed there
Is no necessity for giving concerts
Mr Hubbard owns a half section of
land
Both are good musicians on al-
most any kind of an Instrument
and in addiUoo Mrs Hubbard is an
exceptionally good singer When
she was in practice she would sing
a day at a time without stopping
