Asbestos so far as the world knows today is totally indestructible You cannot de-
stroy it with fire The chemical laboratories use it to strain acids through so in fact there
is nothing that will destroy it Asbestos is a fiberous mineral while white lead is a granu-
lar mineral The asbestos used in paint forms a solid coating of asbestos over the surface
painted and is absolutely sun-proof and acid-proof It also forms a binder that prevents -the
paint from checking peeling or scaling off Stop and think a moment Doesn’t this
seem reasonable? Investigate ASBESTOS and find out what it is and you will always use
asbestos paint when you can get it Let us figure with you when you are ready to paint

ONE REAL HERO WAS MODEST
Ram Lai Bourl Savad the Lives of
Two Children on East Indian
Railway
Last January a porter on the
East Indian railway was presented
thp King Edward medal for heroism
ns a reward for saving the lives of
wo children The viceroy of India
fastened the medal on his breast in
the presence of a large company of
Europeans and Indians among
whom were the chief ollicials of tne
railway A year ago Hum Lai Bouri
the porter was on the first of a num-
ber of coal ears that were being
shunted to a side line lending to a
colliery and as they passed around
a curve Earn Ial saw three little
children playing on the track He
leupod off the car seized two little
ones and bundled them off the track
and he had the third child in his
grasp when the car came upon him
throwing him down and killing the
child When Ram Lai was called to
appear before the viceroy he went in
fear and trembling not having taken
any food that day and expecting to
be severely punished for not having
snvod the third child’s life lie did
not seem to realize that he had done
well in doing all that it was possible
to do The cheers which greeted
him and the praise given to his
brave act were never bestowed upon
a more modest hero — Century Path

CLOTHES CHEST FOR BABY
Chests for the baby’s clothes or
toys are covered with white linen and
have designs painted or embroidered
on the top together with baby’s mon-
ogram If one wishes a chest which
is not so likely to soil quickly it is
a good plan to make it of blue linen
in the delft shade and embroidered
in white Outline deeigns done in
white are most effective and take
very little time Inside the chest is
padded with white wadded silk if
clothes are to be kept in it If it
is meant to hold toys the inside is
neatly papered in white or in blue
If one prefers the white chest the
covering should be made removable
which may be done by lacing the
pieces together through eyelets or
buttoning them after the fashion of
s trunk cover

Troubles That Betel President of
Cleveland Automobile Club Wnen'
He £ut Off Muetache
Fred C Wood who presides oyer
the Cleveland Automobile club be-
came so annoyed the other day by
the interference of his wire-haired
mustache with his eats that he ex-
cused himself between the clams and
the soup went into the barber shop
and in five minutes returned utter-
ly bald faced for the first time in
his thirty-eight years When he
went home Mrs Wood who heard
his step went to open the door but
at the sight of a stranger she hastily
slammed it in his face Fred let
himself into the house and used' up
the better part of the evening to
square himself
They were just making up when
the reconciliation process was inter-
rupted by Fred Jr who had spent
the evening out Fred is eleven and
observant
“All right for you ma” he said
as he came into the room “I’ll tell
pa when he comes home”
So Fred had to introduce himself
all over again to his son if only to
avert scandal But he is glad he
says he took the step “I always
was opposed to strainers" he says
“Now that I have removed the ob-
stacles I shall be able to cat my soup
without the aid of a sieve”

Year’s Free Shines as Prlc
of Liberty
A told attempt to bribe a city
magistrate and incidentally clog the
wheels of justice happened recently
in the Essex Mnrket police court
lust hotv Magistrate Harris was pble
to withstand the voice of the tempt-
er in view of the fact that dusty
weather is soon due is hard to un-
derstand “I'll sliinea da shoes for you onca
whole year eef you letta me go
judge” tempted Francisco Palmet-
to ho had heen arrested along with
some forty others of his fellow boot-
bootblacks on complaint of the bu-
reau of licenses for failing to have
their old licenses renewed
“You mean that you will give me
free shines for a year if I let you
go?” inquired Magistrate Harris
Palmetto assured the magistrate
that that was exactly what he did
mean and promised to come to the
court every day lo do the job
Tlie magistrate however after in-
forming the bootblacks that they
must procure new licenses and re-
ceiving their promises to (lo so dis-
charged them all Palmetto wanted
to give the magistrate a shine before
he left but Magistrate Harris

EXERCISE FOR CHILDREN
Exorcise is absolutely necessary
for children Without it it is im-
possible to' keep the little ones’ mus-
cles and organs in a sound and
healthy condition Outdoor games
are really the best form’of exercise
as the children’s 'inlerest is held
while their muscles are being used
but brisk walks are good too But
let them also do a few siThple calis-
thenics to strengthen the chest as
games do not provide for this Sim-
ply stretching the anus in front and
then slowly moving them from front
to hack and hack again and then
above the head and down to' the side
a few times is quite enough Teach
them to breathe deeply at the same
time
NOTHING TO 8AY
The conceited young woman from
West Philadelphia was discussing
her lovers to her rather homely
friend The latest addition to her
staff of admirers was not as flat-
tering a the others were and it
made the conceited dne feel badly
“Now George” she went on to ex-
plain -“always says I’m sweet as
honey but Willianf' never tell
-I”
“Perhaps” the homely one cut
in “William realizes that honey at-
tracts bpes and where bees are on
is likely to be slung !”
And the conceited one said not
word — Philadelphia Times
