As we uderstand it the lessees are
not in favor of the law providing
for the sale of school section N 33
The lessees are entitled to another
guess if they think they can defeat
the will of that bunch of politicians
that controlled the last legislature
and who located albout twelve public
buildings in various towns in the new
state mostly on the east side The
money with which t6 erect those
buildings must he raised and section
'33 will do the raising act:
The condition of affairs that
prompted the enactment of the fif-
teenth amendment to the constitu-
tion again confronts the people of
a portion of these United States
The democratic newspapers of Okla-
homa virtually admit that the “rib
bon ballot” law disfranchises the
negro and the illiterate class of white
people and yet these same papers
champion the law and say it should
not be repealed In other tfords
they believe in class legislation re-
pudiate the constitution of the Unit-
ed States and say that because a
man cannot read or write he should
not be allowed to vote -

The Initiative and referendum law
is a good thing if the courts and
state officials will but allow it to
rule according to the people’s ver-
dict ibut so far some legal techni-
cality has popped up to thwart the
popular vote By a majority of 48-
000 the people said it would be a
good thing for the state to buy a
site and locate all of the public
buildings on it Some wise judge
ruled that the vote was merely to
show the sentiment of the people
and was not binding Last fall the
people voted down the dispensary
law thus saying that they did not de-
