dailies that spend so much time
exposing the bad spots on others
would only investigate themselves!
They would tmd that every
swindle that has been perpetrated
upon the American people has
been possible through the conni-
vance of the press with the
swindlers. .Not a plain agreement
to rob mercy no! That would
be dishonest. Hut the advertis-
ing contracts that they make with
the thieves serve the same pur-
pose. The swindler writes the
advertisements, and the papers
publish them. Very little time
is spent in looking up the merits
of his scheme—unless it appears
unusually raw. Xo questions are
